Jos 7:7-9, Ezr 9:6, Jer 3:25 | ESV | STEP | And Joshua said , Alas , O Lord God , why have you brought this people over the Jordan at all, to give us into the hands of the Amorites , to destroy us? Would that we had been content to dwell beyond the Jordan !

Joshua 7:7-9

7 And Joshua said, “Alas, O Lord God, ^awhy have you brought this people over the Jordan at all, to give us into the hands of the Amorites, to destroy us? Would that we had been content to dwell beyond the Jordan! 8 O Lord, what can I say, when Israel has turned their backs before their enemies! 9 For the Canaanites and all the inhabitants of the land will hear of it and will surround us and ^bcut off our name from the earth. And what will you do for your great name?”

Ezra 9:6

6 saying:

“O my God, I am ashamed and blush to lift my face to you, my God, for our iniquities ^chave risen higher than our heads, and our ^dguilt has ^emounted up to the heavens.

Jeremiah 3:25

25 ^fLet us lie down in our shame, and let our dishonor cover us. For ^gwe have sinned against the Lord our God, we and our fathers, from our youth even to this day, and we have not obeyed the voice of the Lord our God.”
