How Long, O Lord?

A Psalm of hAsaph.

1 O God, ithe nations have come into your jinheritance;
they have defiled your kholy temple;
they have llaid Jerusalem in ruins.
2They have given mthe bodies of your servants
to the birds of the heavens for food,
the flesh of your nfaithful to othe beasts of the earth.
3They have poured out their blood like water
all around Jerusalem,
and there was pno one to bury them.
4We have become qa taunt to our neighbors,
rmocked and derided by those around us.
5 sHow long, O Lord? Will you be angry tforever?
Will your ujealousy vburn like fire?
6 wPour out your anger on the nations
that xdo not know you,
and on the kingdoms
that ydo not call upon your name!
7For they have devoured Jacob
and laid waste his habitation.
8 zDo not remember against us aaour former iniquities;
Or the iniquities of former generations

let your compassion come speedily to meet us,
for we are acbrought very low.

4 adHow shall we sing the Lord’s song
in a foreign land?
5If I forget you, O Jerusalem,
aelet my right hand forget its skill!
6Let my aftongue stick to the roof of my mouth,
if I do not remember you,
if I do not set Jerusalem
above my highest joy!
