Judges 10:10-16

10And the people of Israel acried out to the Lord, saying, “We have sinned against you, because bwe have forsaken our God and have served the Baals.” 11And the Lord said to the people of Israel, “Did I not save you cfrom the Egyptians and dfrom the Amorites, efrom the Ammonites and ffrom the Philistines? 12The Sidonians also, and gthe Amalekites and the Maonites oppressed you, and you cried out to me, and I hsaved you out of their hand. 13Yet you have iforsaken me and served other gods; therefore I will save you no more. 14Go and cry out jto the gods whom you have chosen; let them save you in the time of your distress.” 15And the people of Israel said to the Lord, “We have sinned; do to us whatever seems good to you. Only please deliver us this day.” 16So they put away the foreign gods from among them and served the Lord, and khe became impatient over the misery of Israel.

Isaiah 1:5

5 Why will you still be lstruck down?
Why will you mcontinue to rebel?
The whole head is sick,
and the whole heart faint.

Isaiah 1:18-20

18 Come now, nlet us reason
Or dispute
together, says the Lord:
though your sins are like scarlet,
they shall be as pwhite as snow;
though they are red like crimson,
they shall become like wool.
19 qIf you are willing and obedient,
you shall eat the good of the land;
20but if you refuse and rebel,
you shall be eaten by the sword;
rfor the mouth of the Lord has spoken.”

Isaiah 5:3-4

3 And now, O inhabitants of Jerusalem
and men of Judah,
judge between me and my vineyard.
4 sWhat more was there to do for my vineyard,
that I have not done in it?
tWhen I looked for it to yield grapes,
why did it yield wild grapes?

Jeremiah 2:17-37

17 uHave you not brought this upon yourself
by forsaking the Lord your God,
when vhe led you in the way?
18 wAnd now what do you gain by going to Egypt
to drink the waters of xthe Nile?
yOr what do you gain by going to Assyria
to drink the waters of zthe Euphrates?
Hebrew  the River

19 abYour evil will chastise you,
and acyour apostasy will reprove you.
Know and see that it is evil and adbitter
for aeyou to forsake the Lord your God;
the fear of me is not in you,

declares the Lord God of hosts.
20 For long ago I afbroke your yoke
and burst your bonds;
but you said, ag‘I will not serve.’
Yes, ahon every high hill
and under every green tree
you bowed down ailike a whore.
21 ajYet I planted you a choice vine,
wholly of pure seed.
akHow then have you turned degenerate
and become a wild vine?
22Though you wash yourself with lye
and use much soap,
althe stain of your guilt is still before me,

declares the Lord God.
23 amHow can you say, ‘I am not unclean,
I have not gone after the Baals’?
Look at your way anin the valley;
know what you have done
a restless young camel running here and there,
24 aoa wild donkey used to the wilderness,
in her heat sniffing the wind!
Who can restrain her lust?
None who seek her need weary themselves;
in her month they will find her.
25Keep apyour feet from going unshod
and aqyour throat from thirst.
But you said, ‘It is hopeless,
arfor I have loved foreigners,
and after them I will go.’
26 “As a thief is shamed when caught,
so the house of Israel shall be shamed:
asthey, their kings, their officials,
their priests, and their prophets,
27who say to a tree, ‘You are my father,’
and to a stone, ‘You gave me birth.’
For they have turned their back to me,
and not their face.
But atin the time of their trouble they say,
Arise and save us!’
28But auwhere are your gods
that you made for yourself?
Let them arise, avif they can save you,
in your time of trouble;
for awas many as your cities
are your gods, O Judah.
29 Why do you contend with me?
You have all transgressed against me,

declares the Lord.
30In vain have I axstruck your children;
they took no correction;
ayyour own sword devoured your prophets
like a ravening lion.
31And you, O generation, behold the word of the Lord.
Have I been a wilderness to Israel,
or a land of thick darkness?
Why then do my people say, ‘We are free,
we will come no more to you’?
32 azCan a virgin forget her ornaments,
or a bride her attire?
Yet bamy people have forgotten me
days without number.
33 How well you direct your course
to seek love!
So that even to wicked women
you have taught your ways.
34Also on your skirts is found
bbthe lifeblood of the guiltless poor;
you did not find them bcbreaking in.
Yet in spite of all these things
35you say, ‘I am innocent;
surely his anger has turned from me.’
bdBehold, I will bring you to judgment
for besaying, ‘I have not sinned.’
36 bfHow much you go about,
changing your way!
You shall be bgput to shame by Egypt
as you were put to shame by Assyria.
37From it too you will come away
with bhyour hands on your head,
for the Lord has rejected those in whom you trust,
and you will not prosper by them.

Hosea 4:1

The Lord Accuses Israel

1 biHear the word of the Lord, O children of Israel,
for bjthe Lord has a controversy with the inhabitants of the land.
There is no faithfulness or steadfast love,
and bkno knowledge of God in the land;

Hosea 6:1-2

Israel and Judah Are Unrepentant

1 Come, let us blreturn to the Lord;
for bmhe has torn us, that he may heal us;
he has struck us down, and bnhe will bind us up.
2After two days bohe will revive us;
on the third day he will raise us up,
that we may live before him.
