Judges 10:6

Further Disobedience and Oppression

6 aThe people of Israel again did what was evil in the sight of the Lord band served the Baals and the Ashtaroth, the gods of Syria, cthe gods of Sidon, the gods of Moab, the gods of the Ammonites, and the gods of the Philistines. And they dforsook the Lord and did not serve him.

2 Kings 16:7

7 eSo Ahaz sent messengers to fTiglath-pileser king of Assyria, saying, “I am your servant and your son. Come up and rescue me from the hand of the king of Syria and from the hand of the king of Israel, who are attacking me.”

2 Kings 16:10-18

10When King Ahaz went to Damascus to meet gTiglath-pileser king of Assyria, he saw the altar that was at Damascus. And King Ahaz sent to hUriah the priest a model of the altar, and its pattern, exact in all its details. 11And Uriah the priest built the altar; in accordance with all that King Ahaz had sent from Damascus, so Uriah the priest made it, before King Ahaz arrived from Damascus. 12And when the king came from Damascus, the king viewed the altar. iThen the king drew near to the altar and went up on it 13and burned his burnt offering and his grain offering and poured his drink offering and threw the blood of his peace offerings on the altar. 14And jthe bronze altar that was before the Lord he removed kfrom the front of the house, from the place between lhis altar and the house of the Lord, and put it on the north side of mhis altar. 15And King Ahaz commanded Uriah the priest, saying, “On the great altar burn nthe morning burnt offering and the evening grain offering and the king’s burnt offering and his grain offering, with the burnt offering of all the people of the land, and their grain offering and their drink offering. And throw on it all the blood of the burnt offering and all the blood of the sacrifice, but othe bronze altar shall be for me to inquire by.” 16Uriah the priest did all this, as King Ahaz commanded.

17And King Ahaz cut off the frames of the stands and removed the basin from them, and he took down pthe sea

18And the covered way for the Sabbath that had been built inside the house and the outer entrance for the king he caused to go around the house of the Lord, because of the king of Assyria.

23For vhe sacrificed to the gods of Damascus that had defeated him and said, wBecause the gods of the kings of Syria helped them, I will sacrifice to them that they may help me.” But they were the ruin of him and of all Israel.

Ezekiel 23:5-9

5Oholah played the whore xwhile she was mine, and yshe lusted after her lovers zthe Assyrians, warriors 6clothed in purple, aagovernors and commanders, aball of them desirable young men, achorsemen riding on horses. 7She bestowed her whoring upon them, the choicest men of Assyria all of them, and she defiled herself with all the idols of everyone after whom she lusted. 8She did not give up her whoring adthat she had begun in Egypt; for in her youth men had lain with her and handled her virgin bosom and poured out their whoring lust upon her. 9Therefore aeI delivered her into the hands of her lovers, into the hands of the Assyrians, after whom she lusted.

Ezekiel 23:12-21

12She lusted after the Assyrians, governors and commanders, warriors clothed in full armor, horsemen riding on horses, afall of them desirable young men. 13And I saw that she was defiled; they both took the same way. 14But she carried her whoring further. She saw men agportrayed on the wall, the ahimages of aithe Chaldeans portrayed in vermilion, 15wearing belts on their waists, with flowing turbans on their heads, all of them having the appearance of officers, a likeness of Babylonians whose native land was Chaldea. 16When she saw them, she lusted after them and ajsent messengers to them akin Chaldea. 17And the Babylonians came to her alinto the bed of love, and they defiled her with their whoring lust. And after she was defiled by them, amshe turned from them in disgust. 18When she carried on her whoring so openly and flaunted her nakedness, I turned in disgust from her, as I had turned in disgust from her sister. 19Yet she increased her whoring, anremembering the days of her youth, when she played the whore in the land of Egypt 20and lusted after her lovers there, whose members were like those of donkeys, and whose issue was like that of horses. 21Thus you longed for the lewdness of your youth, when the Egyptians handled your bosom and pressed
