1 Samuel 25:24-31

24 She fell at his feet and said, ^a“On me alone, my lord, be the guilt. Please let your servant speak in your ears, and hear the words of your servant. 25 Let not my lord regard ^bthis worthless fellow, Nabal, for as his name is, so is he. Nabal ^{▼▼ Nabal means fool} is his name, and folly is with him. But I your servant did not see the young men of my lord, whom you sent. 26 Now then, my lord, ^das the Lord lives, and as your soul lives, because ^ethe Lord has restrained you from bloodguilt and from ^fsaving with your own hand, now then ^glet your enemies and those who seek to do evil to my lord be as Nabal. 27 And now let this ^hpresent that your servant has brought to my lord be given to the young men who follow my lord. 28 Please forgive the trespass of your servant. For the Lord will certainly make my lord ⁱa sure house, because my lord ^jis fighting the battles of the Lord, and evil shall not be found in you so long as you live. 29 If men rise up to pursue you and to seek your life, the life of my lord shall be bound in the bundle of the living in the care of the Lord your God. And the lives of your enemies ^khe shall sling out as from the hollow of a sling. 30 And when the Lord has done to my lord according to all the good that he has spoken concerning you and has appointed you prince ^{▼▼Or leader} over Israel, 31 my lord shall have no cause of grief or pangs of conscience for having shed blood without cause or for my lord ^mworking salvation himself. And when the Lord has dealt well with my lord, then remember your servant.”

2 Samuel 20:16-22

16 Then a wise woman called from the city, “Listen! Listen! Tell Joab, ‘Come here, that I may speak to you.’” 17 And he came near her, and the woman said, “Are you Joab?” He answered, “I am.” Then she said to him, “Listen to the words of your servant.” And he answered, “I am listening.” 18 Then she said, “They used to say in former times, ‘Let them but ask counsel at ⁿAbel,’ and so they settled a matter. 19 I am one of those who are peaceable and faithful in Israel. You seek to destroy a city that is a mother in Israel. Why will you ^oswallow up ^pthe heritage of the Lord?” 20 Joab answered, “Far be it from me, far be it, that I should ^qswallow up or destroy! 21 That is not true. But a man of ^rthe hill country of Ephraim, called Sheba the son of Bichri, has lifted up his hand against King David. Give up him alone, and I will withdraw from the city.” And the woman said to Joab, “Behold, his head shall be thrown to you over the wall.” 22 Then the woman went to all the people ^sin her wisdom. And they cut off the head of Sheba the son of Bichri and threw it out to Joab. So he blew the trumpet, and they dispersed from the city, ^tevery man to his home. And Joab returned to Jerusalem to the king.

2 Kings 22:15-20

15 And she said to them, “Thus says the Lord, the God of Israel: ‘Tell the man who sent you to me, 16 Thus says the Lord, Behold, I will bring disaster upon this place and upon its inhabitants, all the words of the book that the king of Judah has read. 17 ^uBecause they have forsaken me and have made offerings to other gods, that they might provoke me to anger with all the work of their hands, therefore ^vmy wrath will be kindled against this place, and it will not be quenched. 18 But to the king of Judah, who sent you to inquire of the Lord, thus shall you say to him, Thus says the Lord, the God of Israel: Regarding the words that you have heard, 19 ^wbecause your heart was penitent, and you ^xhumbled yourself before the Lord, when you heard how I spoke against this place and against its inhabitants, that they should become ^ya desolation and ^za curse, and you ^aahave torn your clothes and wept before me, I also have heard you, declares the Lord. 20 Therefore, behold, I will gather you to your fathers, and ^abyou shall be gathered to your grave in peace, and your eyes shall not see all the disaster that I will bring upon this place.’” And they brought back word to the king.

Proverbs 31:8-9
