And behold, a young lion came toward him roaring. 6 ^aThen the Spirit of the Lord rushed upon him, and although he had nothing in his hand, he tore the lion in pieces as one tears a young goat. But he did not tell his father or his mother what he had done.

1 Samuel 17:33-36

33 And Saul said to David, “You are not able to go against this Philistine to fight with him, for you are but a youth, and he has been a man of war from his youth.” 34 But David said to Saul, “Your servant used to keep sheep for his father. And when there came a lion, or a bear, and took a lamb from the flock, 35 I went after him and struck him and delivered it out of his mouth. And if he arose against me, I caught him by his beard and struck him and killed him. 36 Your servant has struck down both lions and bears, and this uncircumcised Philistine shall be like one of them, ^bfor he has defied the armies of the living God.”

Psalms 91:13

13 You will tread on ^cthe lion and the ^dadder;
the young lion and ^ethe serpent you will ^ftrample underfoot.

Daniel 6:20-23

20 As he came near to the den where Daniel was, he cried out in a tone of anguish. The king declared to Daniel, “O Daniel, servant of ^gthe living God, ^hhas your God, whom you serve continually, ⁱbeen able to deliver you from the lions?” 21 Then Daniel said to the king, ^j“O king, live forever! 22 My God ^ksent his angel ^land shut the lions’ mouths, and they have not harmed me, because I was found blameless ^mbefore him; ⁿand also before you, O king, I have done no harm.” 23 Then the king was exceedingly glad, and commanded that Daniel be taken up out of the den. So Daniel was taken up out of the den, and ^ono kind of harm was found on him, because he had trusted in his God.
