Ezra 9:1-3

Ezra Prays About Intermarriage

1After these things had been done, the officials approached me and said, “The people of Israel and the priests and the cLevites have not separated themselves from the peoples of the lands dwith their abominations, from the eCanaanites, the Hittites, the Perizzites, the Jebusites, the Ammonites, the Moabites, the Egyptians, and the Amorites. 2 fFor they have taken some of their daughters to be wives for themselves and for their sons, so that the gholy race
Hebrew offspring
has imixed itself with the peoples of the lands. And in this faithlessness the hand of the officials and chief men has been foremost.”
3As soon as I heard this, I jtore my garment and my cloak and pulled hair from my head and beard and ksat appalled.

Ezra 9:10-13

10“And now, O our God, what shall we say after this? For we have forsaken your commandments, 11which you commanded by your servants the prophets, saying, ‘The land that you are entering, to take possession of it, is a land impure with the impurity of the peoples of the lands, with their abominations that have filled it from end to end with ltheir uncleanness. 12 mTherefore do not give your daughters to their sons, neither take their daughters for your sons, and never seek their peace or prosperity, that you may be strong and eat the good of the land nand leave it for an inheritance to your children forever.’ 13And after all that has come upon us for our evil deeds and for oour great guilt, seeing that you, our pGod, have punished us less than our iniquities deserved and have given us such a qremnant as this,

Psalms 78:55-58

55He rdrove out nations before them;
he sapportioned them for a possession
and settled the tribes of Israel in their tents.
56 Yet they ttested and urebelled against the Most High God
and did not keep his testimonies,
57but turned away and acted treacherously like their fathers;
they twisted like va deceitful bow.
58For they wprovoked him to anger with their xhigh places;
they ymoved him to jealousy with their zidols.

Psalms 106:34-40

34 They did not aadestroy the peoples,
abas the Lord commanded them,
35but they acmixed with the nations
and learned to do as they did.
36They served their idols,
which became ada snare to them.
37They aesacrificed their sons
and their daughters to afthe demons;
38they poured out innocent blood,
the blood of their sons and daughters,
whom they sacrificed to the idols of Canaan,
and the land was agpolluted with blood.
39Thus they ahbecame unclean by their acts,
and aiplayed the whore in their deeds.
40 Then ajthe anger of the Lord was kindled against akhis people,
and he abhorred his alheritage;

Jeremiah 7:23-28

23But this command I gave them: amObey my voice, and anI will be your God, and you shall be my people. aoAnd walk in all the way that I command you, apthat it may be well with you.’ 24 aqBut they did not obey or incline their ear, arbut walked in their own counsels and asthe stubbornness of their evil hearts, and atwent backward and not forward. 25From the day that your fathers came out of the land of Egypt to this day, auI have persistently sent all my servants the prophets to them, day after day. 26 avYet they did not listen to me or incline their ear, awbut stiffened their neck. axThey did worse than their fathers.

27 ay“So you shall speak all these words to them, but they will not listen to you. azYou shall call to them, but they will not answer you. 28And you shall say to them, ‘This is the nation that did not obey the voice of the Lord their God, and did not accept discipline; batruth has perished; it is cut off from their lips.
