Judges 20:34-36

34And there came against Gibeah 10,000 chosen men out of all Israel, and the battle was hard, abut the Benjaminites did not know that disaster was close upon them. 35And the Lord defeated Benjamin before Israel, and the people of Israel destroyed 25,100 men of Benjamin that day. All these were men who bdrew the sword. 36So the people of Benjamin saw that they were defeated.

The men of Israel gave ground to Benjamin, because they trusted the men in ambush whom they had set against Gibeah.

Ecclesiastes 9:12

12For man cdoes not know his time. Like fish that are taken in an evil net, and dlike birds that are caught in a snare, so the children of man are esnared at an evil time, when it suddenly falls upon them.

Isaiah 19:11

11 The princes of fZoan are utterly foolish;
the wisest counselors of Pharaoh give stupid counsel.
How can you say to Pharaoh,
“I am a son of the wise,
a son of ancient kings”?
