12 aAnd the people of Israel again did what was evil in the sight of the Lord, and the Lord strengthened Eglon bthe king of Moab against Israel, because they had done what was evil in the sight of the Lord.

Judges 6:3-6

3For whenever the Israelites planted crops, the Midianites and cthe Amalekites and dthe people of the East would come up against them. 4They would encamp against them eand devour the produce of the land, as far as Gaza, and leave no sustenance in Israel and no sheep or ox or donkey. 5For they would come up with their livestock and their tents; they would come flike locusts in number—both they and their camels could not be counted—so that they laid waste the land as they came in. 6And Israel was brought very low because of Midian. And the people of Israel gcried out for help to the Lord.

5But hwhen Ahab died, the king of Moab rebelled against the king of Israel.

2 Kings 3:24-27

24But when they came to the camp of Israel, the Israelites rose and struck the Moabites, till they fled before them. And they went forward, striking the Moabites as they went.

They stopped every spring of water and felled all the good trees, till only its stones were left in kKir-hareseth, and the slingers surrounded and attacked it. 26When the king of Moab saw that the battle was going against him, he took with him 700 lswordsmen to break through, opposite the king of Edom, but they could not. 27Then he took his oldest son who was to reign in his place mand offered him for a burnt offering on the wall. And there came great wrath against Israel. And they withdrew from him and returned to their own land.
