Judges 6:1-2

Midian Oppresses Israel

1 aThe people of Israel did what was evil in the sight of the Lord, and the Lord gave them into the hand of bMidian seven years. 2And the hand of Midian overpowered Israel, and because of Midian the people of Israel made for themselves the dens that are in the mountains and cthe caves and the strongholds.

Job 30:5-6

5 dThey are driven out from human company;
they shout after them as after a thief.
6In the gullies of the torrents they must dwell,
in holes of the earth and of ethe rocks.

Isaiah 2:19-21

19 fAnd people shall enter the caves of the rocks
and the holes of the ground,
Hebrew dust

from before the terror of the Lord,
and from the splendor of his majesty,
hwhen he rises to terrify the earth.
20 In that day imankind will cast away
their idols of silver and their idols of gold,
which they made for themselves to worship,
to the moles and to the jbats,
21 kto enter the caverns of the rocks
and the clefts of the cliffs,
from before the terror of the Lord,
and from the splendor of his majesty,
lwhen he rises to terrify the earth.

Isaiah 10:3

3What will you do on mthe day of punishment,
in the ruin that will come nfrom afar?
To whom will you flee for help,
and where will you leave your wealth?

Isaiah 42:22

22But this is a people plundered and looted;
they are all of them trapped in holes
oand hidden in prisons;
they have become plunder with none to rescue,
spoil with none to say, “Restore!”

Hosea 10:8

8The high places of pAven, qthe sin of Israel,
shall be destroyed.
rThorn and thistle shall grow up
on their altars,
and sthey shall say to the mountains, “Cover us,”
and to the hills, “Fall on us.”

Luke 23:30

30 tThen they will begin to say to the mountains, ‘Fall on us,’ and to the hills, ‘Cover us.’
