Judges 7:19-25

Gideon Defeats Midian

19So Gideon and the hundred men who were with him came to the outskirts of the camp at the beginning of the middle watch, when they had just set the watch. And they blew the trumpets and smashed the jars that were in their hands. 20Then the three companies blew the trumpets and broke the jars. They held in their left hands the torches, and in their right hands the trumpets to blow. aAnd they cried out, “A sword for the Lord and for Gideon!” 21Every man stood in his place around the camp, band all the army ran. They cried out and fled. 22 cWhen they blew the 300 trumpets, dthe Lord set eevery man’s sword against his comrade and against all the army. And the army fled as far as Beth-shittah toward Zererah,

as far as the border of Abel-meholah, by Tabbath.
23And the men of Israel were called out from Naphtali and from Asher and from all Manasseh, and they pursued after Midian.

24 gGideon sent messengers throughout hall the hill country of Ephraim, saying, “Come down against the Midianites and capture the waters against them, as far as iBeth-barah, and also the Jordan.” So all the men of Ephraim were called out, and they captured the waters as far as Beth-barah, and also the Jordan. 25And they captured jthe two princes of Midian, Oreb and Zeeb. They killed Oreb kat the rock of Oreb, and Zeeb they killed at the winepress of Zeeb. Then they pursued Midian, and they brought the heads of Oreb and Zeeb to Gideon lacross the Jordan.

Judges 8:4-10

4And Gideon came to the Jordan and crossed over, he and mthe 300 men who were with him, exhausted yet pursuing. 5So he said to the men of nSuccoth, “Please give loaves of bread to the people who follow me, for they are exhausted, and I am pursuing after Zebah and Zalmunna, the kings of Midian.” 6And the officials of Succoth said, o“Are the hands of Zebah and Zalmunna already in your hand, pthat we should give bread to your army?” 7So Gideon said, “Well then, when the Lord has given Zebah and Zalmunna into my hand, qI will flail your flesh with the thorns of the wilderness and with briers.” 8And from there he went up to rPenuel, and spoke to them in the same way, and the men of Penuel answered him as the men of Succoth had answered. 9And he said to the men of Penuel, s“When I come again in peace, tI will break down this tower.”

10Now Zebah and Zalmunna were in Karkor with their army, about 15,000 men, all who were left of all the army of uthe people of the East, for there had fallen 120,000 men vwho drew the sword.

Judges 15:14-20

14When he came to Lehi, the Philistines came shouting to meet him. wThen the Spirit of the Lord rushed upon him, and the ropes that were on his arms became as flax that has caught fire, and his bonds melted off his hands. 15And he found a fresh jawbone of a donkey, and put out his hand and took it, xand with it he struck 1,000 men. 16And Samson said,

“With the jawbone of a donkey,
heaps upon heaps,
with the jawbone of a donkey
have I struck down a thousand men.”
17As soon as he had finished speaking, he threw away the jawbone out of his hand. And that place ywas called Ramath-lehi.

18And he was very thirsty, and he called upon the Lord and said, aa“You have granted this great salvation by the hand of your servant, and shall I now die of thirst and fall into the hands of the uncircumcised?” 19And God split open the hollow place that is abat Lehi, and water came out from it. And when he drank, achis spirit returned, and he revived. Therefore the name of it was called En-hakkore;

Then she began afto torment him, and his strength left him. 20And she said, “The Philistines are upon you, Samson!” And he awoke from his sleep and said, “I will go out as at other times and shake myself free.” But he did not know that agthe Lord had left him. 21And the Philistines seized him and gouged out his eyes and brought him down to Gaza and bound him with bronze shackles. ahAnd he ground at the mill in the prison. 22But the hair of his head began to grow again after it had been shaved.

The Death of Samson

23Now the lords of the Philistines gathered to offer a great sacrifice to aiDagon their god and to rejoice, and they said, “Our god has given Samson our enemy into our hand.” 24And when the people saw him, ajthey praised their god. For they said, “Our god has given our enemy into our hand, the ravager of our country, who has killed many of us.”
Or who has multiplied our slain
25And alwhen their hearts were merry, they said, “Call Samson, that he may entertain us.” So they called Samson out of the prison, and he entertained them. They made him stand between the pillars. 26And Samson said to the young man who held him by the hand, “Let me feel the pillars on which the house rests, that I may lean against them.” 27Now the house was full of men and women. All the lords of the Philistines were there, and amon the roof there were about 3,000 men and women, who looked on while Samson entertained.

28Then Samson called to the Lord and said, “O Lord God, anplease remember me and please strengthen me only this once, O God, that I may be avenged on the Philistines for my two eyes.” 29And Samson grasped the two middle pillars on which the house rested, and he leaned his weight against them, his right hand on the one and his left hand on the other. 30And Samson said, “Let me die with the Philistines.” Then he bowed with all his strength, and the house fell upon the lords and upon all the people who were in it. So the dead whom he killed at his death were more than those whom he had killed during his life.

8And Hezekiah said to Isaiah, “What shall be the sign that the Lord will heal me, and that I shall go up to the house of the Lord on the third day?” 9And Isaiah said, “This shall be aothe sign to you from the Lord, that the Lord will do the thing that he has promised: shall the shadow go forward ten steps, or go back ten steps?” 10And Hezekiah answered, “It is an easy thing for the shadow apto lengthen ten steps. Rather let the shadow go back ten steps.” 11And Isaiah the prophet called to the Lord, aqand he brought the shadow back ten steps, by which it had gone down on the steps of Ahaz.
