Gideon Defeats Zebah and Zalmunna

1 aThen the men of Ephraim said to him, “What is this that you have done to us, not to call us when you went to fight against Midian?” And they accused him fiercely. 2And he said to them, “What have I done now in comparison with you? Is not bthe gleaning of the grapes of Ephraim better than the grape harvest of Abiezer? 3 cGod has given into your hands the princes of Midian, Oreb and Zeeb. What have I been able to do in comparison with you?” dThen their anger

Proverbs 12:15-16

8 mdo not hastily bring into court,

what will you do in the end,
when your neighbor puts you to shame?

Luke 14:28-32

28For which of you, desiring to build a tower, does not ofirst sit down and count the cost, whether he has enough to complete it? 29Otherwise, when he has laid a foundation and is not able to finish, all who see it begin to mock him, 30saying, ‘This man began to build and was not able to finish.’ 31Or what king, going out to encounter another king in war, will not psit down first and deliberate whether he is able with ten thousand to meet him who comes against him with twenty thousand? 32And if not, while the other is yet a great way off, he sends a delegation and asks for terms of peace.
