Judges 8:24-27

24And Gideon said to them, “Let me make a request of you: every one of you give me the earrings from his spoil.” (For they had golden earrings, abecause they were Ishmaelites.) 25And they answered, “We will willingly give them.” And they spread a cloak, and every man threw in it the earrings of his spoil. 26And the weight of the golden earrings that he requested was 1,700 shekels
A  shekel was about 2/5 ounce or 11 grams
of gold, besides cthe crescent ornaments and dthe pendants and the purple garments worn by the kings of Midian, and besides the collars that were around the necks of their camels.
27And Gideon emade an ephod of it and put it in his city, fin Ophrah. And all Israel gwhored after it there, and it became a hsnare to Gideon and to his family.

Zephaniah 1:3

3“I will sweep away iman and beast;
I will sweep away the birds of the heavens
and jthe fish of the sea,
and kthe rubble
Or stumbling blocks (that is, idols)
with the wicked.
I will mcut off mankind
from the face of the earth,” declares the Lord.

1 Timothy 6:9-10

9But nthose who desire to be rich fall into temptation, ointo a snare, into many senseless and harmful desires that pplunge people into ruin and destruction. 10For the love of money is a root of qall kinds of evils. It is through this craving that some have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many pangs.
