11and ayou are to teach the people of Israel all the statutes that the Lord has spoken to them by Moses.”

Deuteronomy 17:9-11

9 bAnd you shall come to the Levitical priests and to the judge who is in office in those days, and you shall consult them, and cthey shall declare to you the decision. 10Then you shall do according to what they declare to you from that place that the Lord will choose. And you shall be careful to do according to all that they direct you. 11According to the instructions that they give you, and according to the decision which they pronounce to you, you shall do. You shall not turn aside from the verdict that they declare to you, either to the right hand or to the left.

Deuteronomy 24:8

8“Take care, in da case of leprous

disease, to be very careful to do according to all that the Levitical priests shall direct you. As I commanded them, so you shall be careful to do.

2 Chronicles 17:8-10

8 fand with them the Levites, Shemaiah, Nethaniah, Zebadiah, Asahel, Shemiramoth, Jehonathan, Adonijah, Tobijah, and Tobadonijah; and with these Levites, the priests Elishama and Jehoram. 9And gthey taught in Judah, having the Book of the Law of the Lord with them. They went about through all the cities of Judah and taught among the people.

10 hAnd the fear of the Lord fell upon all the kingdoms of the lands that were around Judah, and they made no war against Jehoshaphat.

22And Hezekiah spoke iencouragingly to all the Levites who showed good skill in the service of the Lord. So they ate the food of the festival for seven days, sacrificing jpeace offerings and giving thanks to the Lord, the God of their fathers.

Nehemiah 8:1-9

Ezra Reads the Law

1And all the people gathered as one man into the square before kthe Water Gate. And they told lEzra the scribe to bring the Book of the Law of Moses that the Lord had commanded Israel. 2So Ezra the priest mbrought the Law before the assembly, both men and women and all who could understand what they heard, non the first day of the seventh month. 3 oAnd he read from it facing the square before the Water Gate from early morning until midday, in the presence of the men and the women and those who could understand. And the ears of all the people were attentive to the Book of the Law. 4And Ezra the scribe stood on a wooden platform that they had made for the purpose. And beside him stood Mattithiah, Shema, Anaiah, Uriah, Hilkiah, and Maaseiah on his right hand, and Pedaiah, Mishael, Malchijah, Hashum, Hashbaddanah, Zechariah, and Meshullam on his left hand. 5And Ezra opened the book in the sight of all the people, for he was above all the people, and as he opened it all the people stood. 6And Ezra blessed the Lord, the great God, and all the people answered, pAmen, Amen,” qlifting up their hands. rAnd they bowed their heads and worshiped the Lord with their faces to the ground. 7 sAlso Jeshua, Bani, Sherebiah, Jamin, Akkub, Shabbethai, Hodiah, Maaseiah, Kelita, Azariah, Jozabad, Hanan, Pelaiah, the Levites,
Vulgate; Hebrew and the Levites
uhelped the people to understand the Law, vwhile the people remained in their places.
8They read from the book, from the Law of God, clearly,
Or with interpretation, or paragraph by paragraph
and they gave the sense, so that the people understood the reading.

This Day Is Holy

9And Nehemiah, who was xthe governor, and Ezra ythe priest and scribe, and the Levites who taught the people said to all the people, z“This day is holy to the Lord your God; aado not mourn or weep.” For all the people wept as they heard the words of the Law.

Nehemiah 8:13-15

Feast of Booths Celebrated

13On the second day the heads of fathers’ houses of all the people, with the priests and the Levites, came together to Ezra the scribe in order to study the words of the Law. 14And they found it written in the Law that the Lord had commanded by Moses abthat the people of Israel should dwell in booths
Or temporary shelters
during the feast of the seventh month,
15and that they should proclaim it and adpublish it in all their towns and aein Jerusalem, “Go out to the hills and bring afbranches of olive, wild olive, myrtle, palm, and other leafy trees to make booths, as it is written.”

Nehemiah 8:18

18And day by day, from the first day to the last day, aghe read from the Book of the Law of God. They kept the feast seven days, and ahon the eighth day there was a solemn assembly, according to the rule.
