Leviticus 16:29

29“And it shall be a statute to you forever that ain the seventh month, on the tenth day of the month, you shall bafflict yourselves
Or  shall fast; also verse 31
and shall do no work, either dthe native or the stranger who sojourns among you.

Leviticus 23:27

27Now eon the tenth day of this seventh month is the Day of Atonement. It shall be for you a time of holy convocation, and you shall afflict yourselves
Or  shall fast; also verse 32
and present a food offering to the Lord.

Leviticus 23:32

32It shall be to you a Sabbath of solemn rest, and you shall afflict yourselves. On the ninth day of the month beginning at evening, from evening to evening shall you keep your Sabbath.”

Isaiah 58:5

5 rIs such the fast that I choose,
sa day for a person to humble himself?
Is it to bow down his head like a reed,
and to spread sackcloth and ashes under him?
Will you call this a fast,
and a day acceptable to the Lord?

1 Corinthians 7:5

5 tDo not deprive one another, except perhaps by agreement for a limited time, that you may devote yourselves to prayer; but then come together again, uso that Satan may not tempt you because of your lack of self-control.
