Leviticus 16:31

31 aIt is a Sabbath of solemn rest to you, and you shall bafflict yourselves; it is a statute forever.

Psalms 35:13

13But I, cwhen they were sick
I dwore sackcloth;
I eafflicted myself with fasting;
I prayed fwith head bowed
Or my prayer shall turn back
on my chest.

Isaiah 58:3

3 hWhy have we fasted, and you see it not?
Why have we humbled ourselves, and you take no knowledge of it?’
Behold, in the day of your fast you seek your own pleasure,
Or pursue your own business

jand oppress all your workers.

Isaiah 58:5

5 kIs such the fast that I choose,
la day for a person to humble himself?
Is it to bow down his head like a reed,
and to spread sackcloth and ashes under him?
Will you call this a fast,
and a day acceptable to the Lord?

Daniel 10:12
