4 aYou shall follow my rules
Or  my just decrees; also verse 5
and keep my statutes and walk in them. cI am the Lord your God.
5 dYou shall therefore keep my statutes and my rules; eif a person does them, he shall live by them: I am the Lord.

Moses Commands Obedience

1“And now, O Israel, listen to fthe statutes and the rules
Or just decrees; also verses 5, 8, 14, 45
that I am teaching you, and do them, hthat you may live, and go in and take possession of the land that the Lord, the God of your fathers, is giving you.
2 iYou shall not add to the word that I command you, nor take from it, that you may keep the commandments of the Lord your God that I command you.

Deuteronomy 4:5-6

5See, I have taught you statutes and rules, as the Lord my God commanded me, that you should do them in the land that you are entering to take possession of it. 6 jKeep them and do them, for kthat will be your wisdom and your understanding in the sight of the peoples, who, when they hear all these statutes, will say, ‘Surely this great nation is a wise and understanding people.’

that the Lord your God commanded me to teach you, that you may do them in the land to which you are going over, to possess it,
2that nyou may fear the Lord your God, you and your son and your son’s son, by keeping all his statutes and his commandments, which I command you, all the days of your life, and othat your days may be long.

Deuteronomy 8:1

Remember the Lord Your God

1“The whole commandment that I command you today pyou shall be careful to do, that you may live and multiply, and go in and possess the land that the Lord swore to give to your fathers.
