1 Hear this, O house of Jacob,
^cwho are called by the name of Israel,
and ^dwho came from the waters of Judah,
^ewho swear by the name of the Lord
and confess the God of Israel,
but not in truth or right.

Jeremiah 4:2

2 ^fand if you swear, ‘As the Lord lives,’
in truth, in justice, and in righteousness,

The Lord Accuses Israel

Hosea 4:15

15 Though you play the whore, O ^rIsrael,

nor go up to ^vBeth-aven,
and swear not, “As the Lord lives.”

Zechariah 5:3-4

3 Then he said to me, “This is ^zthe curse that goes out over the face of the whole land. Malachi 3:5

5 “Then I will draw near to you for judgment. I will be ^aga swift witness against the sorcerers, against the adulterers, against those who swear falsely, against those ^ahwho oppress the hired worker in his wages, ^aithe widow and the fatherless, against those who thrust aside the sojourner, and do not fear me, says the Lord of hosts.
