Justice

18“You shall appoint gjudges and officers in all your towns that the Lord your God is giving you, according to your tribes, and they shall judge the people with righteous judgment. 19 hYou shall not pervert justice. iYou shall not show partiality, jand you shall not accept a bribe, for a bribe blinds the eyes of the wise and subverts the cause of the righteous. 20Justice, and only justice, you shall follow, that you may live and inherit the land that the Lord your God is giving you.

Job 29:7-17

7When I went out to kthe gate of the city,
when I prepared my seat in the square,
8the young men saw me and withdrew,
and the aged rose and stood;
9the princes refrained from talking
and llaid their hand on their mouth;
10the voice of the nobles was hushed,
and their mtongue stuck to the roof of their mouth.
11When the ear heard, it called me blessed,
and when the eye saw, it approved,
12because I ndelivered the poor who cried for help,
and the fatherless who had none to help him.
13 oThe blessing of him who was pabout to perish came upon me,
and I caused qthe widow’s heart to sing for joy.
14I rput on righteousness, and it clothed me;
my justice was like a robe and sa turban.
15I was teyes to the blind
and feet to the lame.
16I was a father to the needy,
and I searched out uthe cause of him whom I did not know.
17I vbroke wthe fangs of the unrighteous
and made him drop his prey from his teeth.
