Leviticus 19:4

4 aDo not turn to idols bor make for yourselves any gods of cast metal: I am the Lord your God.

Psalms 115:4-8

4 cTheir idols are silver and gold,
dthe work of human hands.
5They have mouths, ebut do not speak;
eyes, but do not see.
6They have ears, but do not hear;
noses, but do not smell.
7They have hands, but do not feel;
feet, but do not walk;
and they do not make a sound in their throat.
8 fThose who make them become like them;
so do all who trust in them.

Isaiah 44:9-20

The Folly of Idolatry

9 gAll who fashion idols are nothing, and the things they delight in do not profit. Their witnesses neither see nor know, that they may be put to shame. 10 hWho fashions a god or casts an idol that is profitable for nothing? 11 iBehold, all his companions shall be put to shame, and the craftsmen are only human. Let them all assemble, let them stand forth. They shall be terrified; they shall be put to shame together.

12 jThe ironsmith takes a cutting tool and works it over the coals. He fashions it with hammers and works it with his strong arm. He becomes hungry, and his strength fails; he drinks no water and is faint. 13The carpenter stretches a line; he marks it out with a pencil. He shapes it with planes and marks it with a compass. kHe shapes it into the figure of a man, with the beauty of a man, to dwell in a house. 14 lHe cuts down cedars, or he chooses a cypress tree or an oak and lets it grow strong among the trees of the forest. He plants a cedar and the rain nourishes it. 15Then it becomes fuel for a man. He takes a part of it and warms himself; he kindles a fire and bakes bread. Also he makes a god and worships it; he makes it an idol and falls down before it. 16Half of it he burns in the fire. Over the half he eats meat; he roasts it and is satisfied. Also he warms himself and says, “Aha, I am warm, I have seen the fire!” 17And the rest of it he makes into a god, his idol, and falls down to it and worships it. mHe prays to it and says, “Deliver me, for you are my god!”

18They know not, nor do they discern, for he has shut their eyes, so that they cannot see, and their hearts, so that they cannot understand. 19No one considers, nor is there knowledge or discernment to say, “Half of it I burned in the fire; I also baked bread on its coals; I roasted meat and have eaten. And shall I make the rest of it an nabomination? Shall I fall down before a block of wood?” 20 oHe feeds on pashes; a deluded heart has led him astray, and he cannot deliver himself or say, “Is there not qa lie in my right hand?”

Jeremiah 10:10-14

10 rBut the Lord is the true God;
she is the living God and the everlasting King.
At his wrath the earth quakes,
and the nations cannot endure his indignation.
11Thus shall you say to them: t“The gods who did not make the heavens and the earth ushall perish from the earth and from under the heavens.”
This verse is in Aramaic

12 wIt is he who xmade the earth by his power,
ywho established the world by his wisdom,
and zby his understanding stretched out the heavens.
13 aaWhen he utters his voice, there is a tumult of waters in the heavens,
aband he makes the mist rise from the ends of the earth.
acHe makes lightning adfor the rain,
aeand he brings forth the wind affrom his storehouses.
14 agEvery man is stupid and without knowledge;
ahevery goldsmith is put to shame by his idols,
for his images are false,
aiand there is no breath in them.

Acts 19:26

26And you see and hear that not only in Ephesus but in almost all of Asia this Paul has persuaded and turned away a great many people, ajsaying that akgods made with hands are not gods.

1 Corinthians 8:4

4Therefore, as to the eating of food offered to idols, we know that al“an idol has no real existence,” and that am“there is no God but one.”
