1 The Lord spoke to Moses, saying, 2 “Speak to the people of Israel and say to them, ^aThese are the appointed feasts of the Lord that you shall ^bproclaim as ^choly convocations; they are my appointed feasts.

The Sabbath

3 ^d“Six days shall work be done, but on the seventh day is a Sabbath of solemn rest, a holy convocation. You shall do no work. It is a Sabbath to the Lord in all your dwelling places.

The Passover

4 ^e“These are the appointed feasts of the Lord, the ^fholy convocations, which you shall proclaim at the time appointed for them. 5 ^gIn the first month, on the fourteenth day of the month at twilight, ^{▼▼Hebrew between the two evenings} is the Lord’s Passover. 6 And on the fifteenth day of the same month is the Feast of Unleavened Bread to the Lord; for seven days you shall eat unleavened bread. 7 ⁱOn the first day you shall have a holy convocation; you shall not do any ordinary work. 8 But you shall present a food offering to the Lord for seven days. On the seventh day is a holy convocation; you shall not do any ordinary work.”

The Feast of Firstfruits

9 And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, 10 “Speak to the people of Israel and say to them, ^jWhen you come into the land that I give you and reap its harvest, you shall bring the sheaf of ^kthe firstfruits of your harvest to the priest, 11 and he shall ^lwave the sheaf before the Lord, so that you may be accepted. On the day after the Sabbath the priest shall wave it. 12 And on the day when you ^mwave the sheaf, you shall offer a ⁿmale lamb a year old without blemish as a burnt offering to the Lord. 13 ^oAnd the grain offering with it shall be two tenths of an ephah ^{▼▼An ephah was about 3/5 bushel or 22 liters} of fine flour mixed with oil, a food offering to the Lord with a pleasing aroma, ^qand the drink offering with it shall be of wine, a fourth of a hin. ^{▼▼A hin was about 4 quarts or 3.5 liters} 14 And you shall eat neither bread nor grain ^sparched or ^tfresh until this same day, until you have brought the offering of your God: it is a statute forever throughout your generations in all your dwellings.

The Feast of Weeks

15 ^u“You shall count seven full weeks from the day after the Sabbath, from the day that you brought the sheaf of the ^vwave offering. 16 You shall count ^wfifty days to the day after the seventh Sabbath. Then you shall present a grain offering of ^xnew grain to the Lord. 17 You shall bring from your dwelling places two loaves of bread to be waved, made of two tenths of an ephah. They shall be of fine flour, and they shall be baked with leaven, as ^yfirstfruits to the Lord. 18 And you shall present with the bread seven lambs a year old without blemish, and one bull from the herd and two rams. They shall be a burnt offering to the Lord, with their grain offering and their drink offerings, a food offering with a pleasing aroma to the Lord. 19 And you shall offer one ^zmale goat for a sin offering, and two male lambs a year old as a sacrifice of ^aapeace offerings. 20 And the priest shall ^abwave them with the bread of the firstfruits as a wave offering before the Lord, with the two lambs. ^acThey shall be holy to the Lord for the priest. 21 And you shall make a proclamation on the same day. You shall hold a holy convocation. You shall not do any ordinary work. It is a statute forever in all your dwelling places throughout your generations.

22 “And ^adwhen you reap the harvest of your land, you shall not reap your field right up to its edge, nor shall you gather the gleanings after your harvest. You shall leave them for the poor and for the sojourner: I am the Lord your God.”

The Feast of Trumpets

23 And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, 24 “Speak to the people of Israel, saying, In ^aethe seventh month, on the first day of the month, you shall observe a day of solemn rest, ^afa memorial proclaimed with blast of trumpets, a holy convocation. 25 You shall not do any ordinary work, and you shall present a food offering to the Lord.”

The Day of Atonement

26 And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, 27 “Now ^agon the tenth day of this seventh month is the Day of Atonement. It shall be for you a time of holy convocation, and you shall afflict yourselves ^{▼▼Or shall fast; also verse 32} and present a food offering to the Lord. 28 And you shall not do any work on that very day, for it is a Day of Atonement, to make atonement for you before the Lord your God. 29 For whoever is not afflicted on that very day ^aishall be cut off from his people. 30 And whoever does any work on that very day, that person I will destroy from among his people. 31 You shall not do any work. It is a statute forever throughout your generations in all your dwelling places. 32 It shall be to you a Sabbath of solemn rest, and you shall afflict yourselves. On the ninth day of the month beginning at evening, from evening to evening shall you keep your Sabbath.”

The Feast of Booths

33 And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, 34 “Speak to the people of Israel, saying, ^ajOn the fifteenth day of this seventh month and for seven days is the Feast of Booths ^{▼▼Or tabernacles} to the Lord. 35 On the first day shall be a holy convocation; you shall not do any ordinary work. 36 For seven days you shall present food offerings to the Lord. ^alOn the eighth day you shall hold a holy convocation and present a food offering to the Lord. It is a ^amsolemn assembly; you shall not do any ordinary work.

37 ^an“These are the appointed feasts of the Lord, which you shall proclaim as times of holy convocation, for presenting to the Lord food offerings, burnt offerings and grain offerings, sacrifices and drink offerings, each on its proper day, 38 ^aobesides the Lord’s Sabbaths and besides your gifts and besides all your vow offerings and besides all your freewill offerings, which you give to the Lord.

39 “On the fifteenth day of the seventh month, when you have ^apgathered in the produce of the land, you shall celebrate the feast of the Lord seven days. On the first day shall be a solemn rest, and on the eighth day shall be a solemn rest. 40 And ^aqyou shall take on the first day the fruit of splendid trees, branches of palm trees and boughs of leafy trees and willows of the brook, and ^aryou shall rejoice before the Lord your God seven days. 41 ^asYou shall celebrate it as a feast to the Lord for seven days in the year. It is a statute forever throughout your generations; you shall celebrate it in the seventh month. 42 ^atYou shall dwell in booths for seven days. All native Israelites shall dwell in booths, 43 that ^auyour generations may know that I made the people of Israel dwell in booths when I brought them out of the land of Egypt: I am the Lord your God.”

44 Thus Moses ^avdeclared to the people of Israel the appointed feasts of the Lord.

Numbers 15

Laws About Sacrifices

1 The Lord spoke to Moses, saying, 2 “Speak to the people of Israel and say to them, ^awWhen you come into the land you are to inhabit, which I am giving you, 3 and ^axyou offer to the Lord from the herd or from the flock a food offering ^{▼▼Or an offering by fire; so throughout Numbers} or a burnt offering or a sacrifice, ^azto fulfill a vow or as a freewill offering or ^baat your appointed feasts, to make a ^bbpleasing aroma to the Lord, 4 then ^bche who brings his offering shall offer to the Lord ^bda grain offering of a tenth of an ephah ^{▼▼An ephah was about 3/5 bushel or 22 liters} of fine flour, ^bfmixed with a quarter of a hin ^{▼▼A hin was about 4 quarts or 3.5 liters} of oil; 5 and you shall offer with the burnt offering, or for the sacrifice, a quarter of a hin of ^bhwine for the drink offering for each lamb. 6 ^biOr for a ram, you shall offer for a grain offering two tenths of an ephah of fine flour mixed with a third of a hin of oil. 7 And for the drink offering you shall offer a third of a hin of wine, a ^bjpleasing aroma to the Lord. 8 And when you offer a bull as a burnt offering or sacrifice, to ^bkfulfill a vow or for ^blpeace offerings to the Lord, 9 then one shall offer ^bmwith the bull a grain offering of three tenths of an ephah of fine flour, mixed with half a hin of oil. 10 And you shall offer for the drink offering half a hin of wine, as a food offering, a pleasing aroma to the Lord.

11 ^bn“Thus it shall be done for each bull or ram, or for each lamb or young goat. 12 As many as you offer, so shall you do with each one, as many as there are. 13 Every native Israelite shall do these things in this way, in offering a food offering, with a pleasing aroma to the Lord. 14 And if a stranger is sojourning with you, or anyone is living permanently among you, and he wishes to offer a food offering, with a pleasing aroma to the Lord, he shall do as you do. 15 For the assembly, ^bothere shall be one statute for you and for the stranger who sojourns with you, a statute forever throughout your generations. You and the sojourner shall be alike before the Lord. 16 One law and one rule shall be for you and for the stranger who sojourns with you.”

17 The Lord spoke to Moses, saying, 18 ^bp“Speak to the people of Israel and say to them, When you come into the land to which I bring you 19 and when you eat of ^bqthe bread of the land, you shall present a contribution to the Lord. 20 ^brOf the first of your dough you shall present a loaf as a contribution; like a ^bscontribution from the threshing floor, so shall you present it. 21 ^btSome of the first of your dough you shall give to the Lord as a contribution throughout your generations.

Laws About Unintentional Sins

22 ^bu“But if you sin unintentionally, ^{▼▼Or by mistake; also verses 24, 27, 28, 29} and do not observe all these commandments that the Lord has spoken to Moses, 23 all that the Lord has commanded you by Moses, from the day that the Lord gave commandment, and onward throughout your generations, 24 then if it was done unintentionally ^bwwithout the knowledge of the congregation, all the congregation shall offer one bull from the herd for a burnt offering, a pleasing aroma to the Lord, ^bxwith its grain offering and its drink offering, according to the rule, and ^byone male goat for a sin offering. 25 ^bzAnd the priest shall make atonement for all the congregation of the people of Israel, and they shall be forgiven, because it was a mistake, and they have brought their offering, a food offering to the Lord, and their sin offering before the Lord for their mistake. 26 And all the congregation of the people of Israel shall be forgiven, and the stranger who sojourns among them, because the whole population was involved in the mistake.

27 ^ca“If one person sins unintentionally, he shall offer a female goat a year old for a sin offering. 28 ^cbAnd the priest shall make atonement before the Lord for the person who makes a mistake, when he sins unintentionally, to make atonement for him, and he shall be forgiven. 29 ^ccYou shall have one law for him who does anything unintentionally, for him who is native among the people of Israel and for the stranger who sojourns among them. 30 ^cdBut the person who does anything with a high hand, whether he is native or a sojourner, reviles the Lord, and that person shall be cut off from among his people. 31 Because he has ^cedespised the word of the Lord and has broken his commandment, that person shall be utterly cut off; his iniquity shall be on him.”

A Sabbathbreaker Executed

32 While the people of Israel were in the wilderness, they found a man ^cfgathering sticks on the Sabbath day. 33 And those who found him gathering sticks brought him to Moses and Aaron and to all the congregation. 34 ^cgThey put him in custody, because it had not been made clear what should be done to him. 35 And the Lord said to Moses, ^ch“The man shall be put to death; all the congregation shall ^cistone him with stones outside the camp.” 36 And all the congregation brought him outside the camp and stoned him to death with stones, as the Lord commanded Moses.

Tassels on Garments

37 The Lord said to Moses, 38 “Speak to the people of Israel, and tell them to ^cjmake tassels on the corners of their garments throughout their generations, and to put a cord of blue on the tassel of each corner. 39 And it shall be a tassel for you to look at and remember all the commandments of the Lord, to do them, ^cknot to follow ^{▼▼Hebrew to spy out} after your own heart and your own eyes, which you are inclined ^cmto whore after. 40 So you shall remember and do all my commandments, and be ^cnholy to your God. 41 ^coI am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt to be your God: I am the Lord your God.”

Numbers 28

Daily Offerings

1 The Lord spoke to Moses, saying, 2 “Command the people of Israel and say to them, ‘My offering, ^cpmy food for my food offerings, my ^cqpleasing aroma, you shall be careful to offer to me at its appointed time.’ 3 ^crAnd you shall say to them, This is the food offering that you shall offer to the Lord: two male lambs a year old without blemish, day by day, as a regular offering. 4 The one lamb you shall offer in the morning, and the other lamb you shall offer at twilight; 5 also ^csa tenth of an ephah ^{▼▼An ephah was about 3/5 bushel or 22 liters} of fine flour for ^cua grain offering, mixed ^cvwith a quarter of a hin ^{▼▼A hin was about 4 quarts or 3.5 liters} of beaten oil. 6 It is a ^cxregular burnt offering, which was ordained at Mount Sinai for a pleasing aroma, a food offering to the Lord. 7 Its drink offering shall be a quarter of a hin for each lamb. In the Holy Place you shall pour out a drink offering of strong drink to the Lord. 8 The other lamb you shall offer at twilight. Like the grain offering of the morning, and like its drink offering, you shall offer it as a food offering, with a pleasing aroma to the Lord.

Sabbath Offerings

9 “On the Sabbath day, two male lambs a year old without blemish, and two tenths of an ephah of fine flour for a grain offering, mixed with oil, and its drink offering: 10 this is ^cythe burnt offering of every Sabbath, besides the regular burnt offering and its drink offering.

Monthly Offerings

11 ^cz“At the beginnings of your months, you shall offer a burnt offering to the Lord: two bulls from the herd, one ram, seven male lambs a year old without blemish; 12 also ^dathree tenths of an ephah of fine flour for a grain offering, mixed with oil, for each bull, and two tenths of fine flour for a grain offering, mixed with oil, for the one ram; 13 and a tenth of fine flour mixed with oil as a grain offering for every lamb; for a burnt offering with a pleasing aroma, a food offering to the Lord. 14 Their drink offerings shall be half a hin of wine for a bull, a third of a hin for a ram, and a quarter of a hin for a lamb. This is the burnt offering of each month throughout the months of the year. 15 Also ^dbone male goat for a sin offering to the Lord; it shall be offered besides the regular burnt offering and its drink offering.

Passover Offerings

16 ^dc“On the fourteenth day of the first month is the Lord’s Passover, 17 ^ddand on the fifteenth day of this month is a feast. Seven days shall unleavened bread be eaten. 18 ^deOn the first day there shall be a holy convocation. You shall not do any ordinary work, 19 but offer a food offering, a burnt offering to the Lord: two bulls from the herd, one ram, and seven male lambs a year old; ^dfsee that they are without blemish; 20 also their grain offering of fine flour mixed with oil; three tenths of an ephah shall you offer for a bull, and two tenths for a ram; 21 a tenth shall you offer for each of the seven lambs; 22 also ^dgone male goat for a sin offering, to make atonement for you. 23 You shall offer these besides the burnt offering of the morning, which is for a regular burnt offering. 24 In the same way you shall offer daily, for seven days, the food of a food offering, with a pleasing aroma to the Lord. It shall be offered besides the regular burnt offering and its drink offering. 25 And ^dhon the seventh day you shall have a holy convocation. You shall not do any ordinary work.

Offerings for the Feast of Weeks

26 “On ^dithe day of the firstfruits, when you offer a grain offering of new grain to the Lord at your Feast of Weeks, you shall have a holy convocation. You shall not do any ordinary work, 27 but offer a burnt offering, with a pleasing aroma to the Lord: ^djtwo bulls from the herd, one ram, seven male lambs a year old; 28 also their grain offering of fine flour mixed with oil, three tenths of an ephah for each bull, two tenths for one ram, 29 a tenth for each of the seven lambs; 30 with ^dkone male goat, to make atonement for you. 31 Besides the regular burnt offering and its grain offering, you shall offer them and their drink offering. ^dlSee that they are without blemish.

Offerings for the Feast of Trumpets

Offerings for the Day of Atonement

7 ^dr“On the tenth day of this seventh month you shall have a holy convocation and ^dsafflict yourselves. ^{▼▼Or and fast} You shall do no work, 8 but you shall offer a burnt offering to the Lord, a pleasing aroma: one bull from the herd, one ram, seven male lambs a year old: ^dusee that they are without blemish. 9 And their grain offering shall be of fine flour mixed with oil, three tenths of an ephah for the bull, two tenths for the one ram, 10 a tenth for each of the seven lambs: 11 also ^dvone male goat for a sin offering, besides ^dwthe sin offering of atonement, and the regular burnt offering and its grain offering, and their drink offerings.

Offerings for the Feast of Booths

12 ^dx“On the fifteenth day of the seventh month you shall have a holy convocation. You shall not do any ordinary work, and you shall keep a feast to the Lord seven days. 13 And ^dyyou shall offer a burnt offering, a food offering, with a pleasing aroma to the Lord, thirteen bulls from the herd, two rams, fourteen male lambs a year old; they shall be without blemish; 14 and their grain offering of fine flour mixed with oil, three tenths of an ephah for each of the thirteen bulls, two tenths for each of the two rams, 15 and a tenth for each of the fourteen lambs; 16 also one male goat for a sin offering, besides the regular burnt offering, its grain offering and its drink offering.

17 “On the second day twelve bulls from the herd, two rams, fourteen male lambs a year old without blemish, 18 with the grain offering and the drink offerings for the bulls, for the rams, and for the lambs, ^dzin the prescribed quantities; 19 also one male goat for a sin offering, besides the regular burnt offering and its grain offering, and their drink offerings.

20 “On the third day eleven bulls, two rams, fourteen male lambs a year old without blemish, 21 with the grain offering and the drink offerings for the bulls, for the rams, and for the lambs, in the prescribed quantities; 22 also one male goat for a sin offering, besides the regular burnt offering and its grain offering and its drink offering.

23 “On the fourth day ten bulls, two rams, fourteen male lambs a year old without blemish, 24 with the grain offering and the drink offerings for the bulls, for the rams, and for the lambs, in the prescribed quantities; 25 also one male goat for a sin offering, besides the regular burnt offering, its grain offering and its drink offering.

26 “On the fifth day nine bulls, two rams, fourteen male lambs a year old without blemish, 27 with the grain offering and the drink offerings for the bulls, for the rams, and for the lambs, in the prescribed quantities; 28 also one male goat for a sin offering; besides the regular burnt offering and its grain offering and its drink offering.

29 “On the sixth day eight bulls, two rams, fourteen male lambs a year old without blemish, 30 with the grain offering and the drink offerings for the bulls, for the rams, and for the lambs, in the prescribed quantities; 31 also one male goat for a sin offering; besides the regular burnt offering, its grain offering, and its drink offerings.

32 “On the seventh day seven bulls, two rams, fourteen male lambs a year old without blemish, 33 with the grain offering and the drink offerings for the bulls, for the rams, and for the lambs, in the prescribed quantities; 34 also one male goat for a sin offering; besides the regular burnt offering, its grain offering, and its drink offering.

35 ^ea“On the eighth day you shall have a ^ebsolemn assembly. You shall not do any ordinary work, 36 but you shall offer a burnt offering, a food offering, with a pleasing aroma to the Lord: one bull, one ram, seven male lambs a year old without blemish, 37 and the grain offering and the drink offerings for the bull, for the ram, and for the lambs, in the prescribed quantities; 38 also one male goat for a sin offering; besides the regular burnt offering and its grain offering and its drink offering.

39 “These you shall offer to the Lord at your ^ecappointed feasts, in addition to your ^edvow offerings and your freewill offerings, for your burnt offerings, and for your grain offerings, and for your drink offerings, and for your peace offerings.”

40 ^{▼▼Ch 30:1 in Hebrew} So Moses told the people of Israel everything just as the Lord had commanded Moses.

Deuteronomy 16

Passover

1 “Observe the ^efmonth of Abib and keep the Passover to the Lord your God, for ^egin the month of Abib the Lord your God brought you out of Egypt by night. 2 And you shall offer the Passover sacrifice to the Lord your God, from the flock or ^ehthe herd, ^eiat the place that the Lord will choose, to make his name dwell there. 3 You shall eat no leavened bread with it. ^ejSeven days you shall eat it with unleavened bread, the bread of affliction—for you came out of the land of Egypt ^ekin haste—that all the days of your life you may remember the day when you came out of the land of Egypt. 4 ^elNo leaven shall be seen with you in all your territory for seven days, ^emnor shall any of the flesh that you sacrifice on the evening of the first day remain all night until morning. 5 You may not offer the Passover sacrifice within any of your towns that the Lord your God is giving you, 6 but at the place that the Lord your God will choose, to make his name dwell in it, there you shall offer the Passover sacrifice, in the evening at sunset, at the time you came out of Egypt. 7 And you shall cook it and eat it at the place that the Lord your God will choose. And in the morning you shall turn and go to your tents. 8 For ^ensix days you shall eat unleavened bread, and on the seventh day there shall be ^eoa solemn assembly to the Lord your God. You shall do no work on it.

The Feast of Weeks

9 ^ep“You shall count seven weeks. Begin to count the seven weeks from the time the sickle is first put to the standing grain. 10 Then you shall keep ^eqthe Feast of Weeks to the Lord your God with ^erthe tribute of a freewill offering from your hand, which you shall give ^esas the Lord your God blesses you. 11 And ^etyou shall rejoice before the Lord your God, you and your son and your daughter, your male servant and your female servant, the Levite who is within your towns, the sojourner, the fatherless, and the widow who are among you, at the place that the Lord your God will choose, to make his name dwell there. 12 ^euYou shall remember that you were a slave in Egypt; and you shall be careful to observe these statutes.

The Feast of Booths

13 ^ev“You shall keep the Feast of Booths seven days, when you have gathered in the produce from your threshing floor and your winepress. 14 ^ewYou shall rejoice in your feast, you and your son and your daughter, your male servant and your female servant, the Levite, the sojourner, the fatherless, and the widow who are within your towns. 15 For ^exseven days you shall keep the feast to the Lord your God at the place that the Lord will choose, because the Lord your God will bless you in all your produce and in all the work of your hands, so that you will be altogether joyful.

16 ^ey“Three times a year all your males shall appear before the Lord your God at the place that he will choose: at the Feast of Unleavened Bread, at the Feast of Weeks, and at the Feast of Booths. ^ezThey shall not appear before the Lord empty-handed. 17 Every man ^fashall give as he is able, ^fbaccording to the blessing of the Lord your God that he has given you.

Justice

18 “You shall appoint ^fcjudges and officers in all your towns that the Lord your God is giving you, according to your tribes, and they shall judge the people with righteous judgment. 19 ^fdYou shall not pervert justice. ^feYou shall not show partiality, ^ffand you shall not accept a bribe, for a bribe blinds the eyes of the wise and subverts the cause of the righteous. 20 Justice, and only justice, you shall follow, that you may live and inherit the land that the Lord your God is giving you.

Forbidden Forms of Worship

21 “You shall not plant any tree as ^fgan Asherah beside the altar of the Lord your God that you shall make. 22 And you shall not set up a pillar, which the Lord your God hates.
