Leviticus 26:14-15

Punishment for Disobedience

14 a“But if you will not listen to me and will not do all these commandments, 15if you spurn my statutes, and if your soul abhors my rules, so that you will not do all my commandments, but bbreak my covenant,

Judges 2:17-20

17Yet they did not listen to their judges, for cthey whored after other gods and bowed down to them. dThey soon turned aside from the way in which their fathers had walked, who had obeyed the commandments of the Lord, and they did not do so. 18Whenever the Lord raised up judges for them, ethe Lord was with the judge, and he saved them from the hand of their enemies all the days of the judge. fFor the Lord was moved to pity by gtheir groaning because of those who afflicted and oppressed them. 19But hwhenever the judge died, they turned back and were more corrupt than their fathers, going after other gods, serving them and bowing down to them. They did not drop any of their practices or their stubborn ways. 20 iSo the anger of the Lord was kindled against Israel, and he said, “Because this people jhave transgressed my covenant that I commanded their fathers and have not obeyed my voice,

2 Samuel 12:9-10

9 kWhy have you despised the word of the Lord, lto do what is evil in his sight? mYou have struck down Uriah the Hittite with the sword and nhave taken his wife to be your wife and have killed him with the sword of the Ammonites. 10Now therefore the sword shall never depart from your house, because you have despised me and have taken the wife of Uriah the Hittite to be your wife.’

2 Kings 22:11-17

11When the king heard the words of the Book of the Law, ohe tore his clothes. 12And the king commanded Hilkiah the priest, and pAhikam the son of Shaphan, and qAchbor the son of rMicaiah, and Shaphan the secretary, and Asaiah the king’s servant, saying, 13Go, inquire of the Lord for me, and for the people, and for all Judah, concerning the words of this book that has been found. For great is sthe wrath of the Lord that is kindled against us, because our fathers have not obeyed the words of this book, to do according to all that is written concerning us.”

14So Hilkiah the priest, and Ahikam, and Achbor, and Shaphan, and Asaiah went to Huldah the prophetess, the wife of Shallum the son of tTikvah, son of uHarhas, keeper of the wardrobe (now she lived in Jerusalem in vthe Second Quarter), and they talked with her. 15And she said to them, “Thus says the Lord, the God of Israel: ‘Tell the man who sent you to me, 16Thus says the Lord, Behold, I will bring disaster upon this place and upon its inhabitants, all the words of the book that the king of Judah has read. 17 wBecause they have forsaken me and have made offerings to other gods, that they might provoke me to anger with all the work of their hands, therefore xmy wrath will be kindled against this place, and it will not be quenched.

2 Chronicles 36:14-17

14All the officers of the priests and the people likewise were exceedingly unfaithful, following all the abominations of the nations. And they polluted the house of the Lord that he had made holy in Jerusalem.

15The Lord, the God of their fathers, ysent persistently to them by his messengers, because he had compassion on his people and on his dwelling place. 16 zBut they kept mocking the messengers of God, aadespising his words and scoffing at his prophets, abuntil the wrath of the Lord rose against his people, until there was no remedy.

Jerusalem Captured and Burned

17 acTherefore he brought up against them the king of the Chaldeans, who killed their young men with the sword in the house of their sanctuary and had no compassion on young man or virgin, old man or aged. He gave them all into his hand.
