Leviticus 26:25-46

of bread, ten women shall bake your bread in a single oven and shall dole out your bread again by weight, and eyou shall eat and not be satisfied.

27“But fif in spite of this you will not listen to me, but walk contrary to me, 28then I will walk contrary to you gin fury, and I myself will discipline you hsevenfold for your sins. 29 iYou shall eat the flesh of your sons, and you shall eat the flesh of your daughters. 30And jI will destroy your high places and cut down your incense altars and kcast your dead bodies upon the dead bodies of your idols, and my soul will abhor you. 31And I will llay your cities waste and will mmake your sanctuaries desolate, and nI will not smell your pleasing aromas. 32And oI myself will devastate the land, so that your enemies who settle in it shall be pappalled at it. 33And qI will scatter you among the nations, and I will unsheathe the sword after you, and your land shall be a desolation, and your cities shall be a waste.

34 r“Then the land shall enjoy

its Sabbaths as long as it lies desolate, while you are in your enemiesland; then the land shall rest, and enjoy its Sabbaths.
35As long as it lies desolate it shall have rest, the rest that it did not have on your Sabbaths when you were dwelling in it. 36And as for those of you who are left, tI will send faintness into their hearts in the lands of their enemies. The usound of a vdriven leaf shall put them to flight, and they shall flee as one flees from the sword, and they shall fall when none pursues. 37They shall stumble over one another, as if to escape a sword, though none pursues. And wyou shall have no power to stand before your enemies. 38And you shall perish among the nations, and the land of your enemies shall eat you up. 39And those of you who are left shall xrot away in your enemieslands because of their iniquity, and also because of the iniquities of their fathers they shall rot away like them.

40“But if ythey confess their iniquity and the iniquity of their fathers in their treachery that they zcommitted against me, and also in walking contrary to me, 41so that I walked contrary to them and brought them into the land of their enemiesif then their aauncircumcised heart is abhumbled and they make amends for their iniquity, 42then I will acremember my covenant with Jacob, and I will remember my covenant with Isaac and my covenant with Abraham, and I will adremember the land. 43But aethe land shall be abandoned by them and enjoy its Sabbaths while it lies desolate without them, and they shall make amends for their iniquity, because they spurned my rules and their soul abhorred my statutes. 44Yet for all that, when they are in the land of their enemies, afI will not spurn them, neither will I abhor them so as to destroy them utterly and agbreak my covenant with them, for I am the Lord their God. 45But I will for their sake remember the covenant with their forefathers, ahwhom I brought out of the land of Egypt aiin the sight of the nations, that I might be their God: I am the Lord.”

46 ajThese are the statutes and rules and laws that the Lord made between himself and the people of Israel through Moses akon Mount Sinai.

Deuteronomy 28:45-50

45 alAll these curses shall come upon you and pursue you and overtake you till you are destroyed, because you did not obey the voice of the Lord your God, to keep his commandments and his statutes that he commanded you. 46They shall be ama sign and a wonder against you and your offspring forever. 47 anBecause you did not serve the Lord your God with joyfulness and gladness of heart, because of the abundance of all things, 48therefore you shall serve your enemies whom the Lord will send against you, in hunger and thirst, in nakedness, and lacking everything. And he aowill put a yoke of iron on your neck until he has destroyed you. 49 apThe Lord will bring a nation against you from far away, from the end of the earth, aqswooping down like the eagle, a nation arwhose language you do not understand, 50a hard-faced nation aswho shall not respect the old or show mercy to the young.

15 awBehold, I am bringing against you
a nation from afar, O house of Israel,

It is an enduring nation;

axnor can you understand what they say.
16 ayTheir quiver is like azan open tomb;
they are all mighty warriors.

Jeremiah 6:1

Impending Disaster for Jerusalem

1 Flee for safety, baO people of Benjamin,
from the midst of Jerusalem!
Blow the trumpet in bbTekoa,
and raise a signal on bcBeth-haccherem,
for disaster looms bdout of the north,
and great destruction.

Jeremiah 6:22-26

22 Thus says the Lord:
beBehold, a people is coming bffrom the north country,
a great nation is stirring from bgthe farthest parts of the earth.
23They lay hold on bow and javelin;
they are bhcruel and have no mercy;
bithe sound of them is like the roaring sea;
they ride on horses,
set in array as a man for battle,
against you, O daughter of Zion!”
24We have heard the report of it;
bjour hands fall helpless;
anguish has taken hold of us,
bkpain as of a woman in labor.
25Go not out into the field,
nor walk on the road,
for the enemy has a sword;
blterror is on every side.
26O daughter of my people, bmput on sackcloth,
and bnroll in ashes;
bomake mourning as for an only son,
most bitter lamentation,
for suddenly the destroyer
will come upon us.

Jeremiah 8:16

16 bp“The snorting of their horses is heard bqfrom Dan;
at the sound of the neighing brof their stallions
bsthe whole land quakes.
They come btand devour the land and all that fills it,
the city and those who dwell in it.
