26 aWhen I break your supply
Hebrew staff
of bread, ten women shall bake your bread in a single oven and shall dole out your bread again by weight, and cyou shall eat and not be satisfied.

Deuteronomy 28:23-24

23And dthe heavens over your head shall be bronze, and the earth under you shall be iron. 24The Lord will make the rain of your land powder. From heaven dust shall come down on you until you are destroyed.

A  shekel was about 2/5 ounce or 11 grams; a  kab was about 1 quart or 1 liter
of dove’s dung for five shekels of silver.

Jeremiah 14:2-6

2 fJudah mourns,
and gher gates languish;
her people lament on the ground,
and hthe cry of Jerusalem goes up.
3Her nobles send their servants for water;
they come to the cisterns;
they find no water;
they return with their vessels empty;
they are iashamed and confounded
and jcover their heads.
4Because of the ground that is dismayed,
since there is kno rain on the land,
the farmers are ashamed;
they cover their heads.
5Even lthe doe in the field forsakes her newborn fawn
because there is no grass.
6 mThe wild donkeys stand on the bare heights;
they pant for air like jackals;
their eyes fail
because there is no vegetation.

Jeremiah 14:18

18 nIf I go out into the field,
behold, those pierced by the sword!
oAnd if I enter the city,
behold, the diseases of famine!
pFor both prophet and priest ply their trade through the land
and have no knowledge.’”

Joel 1:15-20

15 Alas for the day!
qFor the day of the Lord is near,
and as destruction from the Almighty
 Destruction sounds like the Hebrew for  Almighty
it comes.
16Is not the food cut off
before our eyes,
sjoy and gladness
from the house of our God?
17 tThe seed shrivels under the clods;
The meaning of the Hebrew line is uncertain

the storehouses are desolate;
the granaries are torn down
because vthe grain has dried up.
18How wthe beasts groan!
The herds of cattle are perplexed
because there is no pasture for them;
even the flocks of sheep suffer.
Or are made desolate

19 To you, yO Lord, I call.
zFor fire has devoured
the pastures of the wilderness,
aaand flame has burned
all the trees of the field.
20Even the beasts of the field abpant for you
because the water brooks are dried up,
acand fire has devoured
the pastures of the wilderness.
