Luke 1:67-79

Zechariah’s Prophecy

67And his father Zechariah awas filled with the Holy Spirit and bprophesied, saying,

68 cBlessed be the Lord dGod of Israel,
for he has evisited and fredeemed his people
69and ghas raised up ha horn of salvation for us
iin the house of his servant David,
70 jas khe spoke by the mouth of his holy prophets from of old,
71 lthat we should be saved from our enemies
and from the hand of all who hate us;
72 mto show the mercy promised to our fathers
and nto remember his holy ocovenant,
73 pthe oath that he swore to our father Abraham, to grant us
74that we, being delivered from the hand of our enemies,
might serve him qwithout fear,
75 rin holiness and righteousness before him sall our days.
76And you, child, will be called tthe prophet of uthe Most High;
for vyou will go before the Lord to prepare his ways,
77to give knowledge of salvation to his people
win the forgiveness of their sins,
78because of the xtender mercy of our God,
whereby ythe sunrise shall zvisit us
Or when the sunrise shall dawn upon us; some manuscripts since the sunrise has visited us
abfrom on high
79to acgive light to adthose who sit in darkness and in the shadow of death,
to guide our feet into aethe way of afpeace.”
