The Law and the Promise

15 lTo give a human example, brothers:
Or  brothers and sisters
neven with a man-made covenant, no one annuls it or adds to it once it has been ratified.
16Now othe promises were made pto Abraham and to his offspring. It does not say, “And to offsprings,” referring to many, but referring to one, qAnd to your offspring,” who is Christ. 17This is what I mean: the law, which came r430 years afterward, does not annul a covenant previously ratified by God, so as sto make the promise void.

Hebrews 6:13-18

The Certainty of God’s Promise

13For when God made a promise to Abraham, since he had no one greater by whom to swear, the swore by himself, 14saying, uSurely I will bless you and multiply you.” 15And thus Abraham,
Greek he
whaving patiently waited, obtained the promise.
16For people swear by something greater than themselves, and in all their disputes xan oath is final for confirmation. 17So when God desired to show more convincingly to ythe heirs of the promise zthe unchangeable character of his purpose, aahe guaranteed it with an oath, 18so that by two unchangeable things, in which abit is impossible for God to lie, we who have fled for refuge might have strong encouragement to hold fast to the hope acset before us.
