Luke 11:39-52

39And the Lord said to him, aNow you Pharisees cleanse the outside of the cup and of the dish, but inside you are full of bgreed and wickedness. 40 cYou fools! dDid not he who made the outside make the inside also? 41But egive as alms those things that are within, and behold, feverything is clean for you.

42 gBut woe to you Pharisees! For hyou tithe mint and rue and every herb, and neglect ijustice and jthe love of God. kThese you ought to have done, without neglecting the others. 43Woe to you Pharisees! For lyou love the best seat in the synagogues and greetings in the marketplaces. 44Woe to you! mFor you are like unmarked graves, and people walk over them without knowing it.”

45One of nthe lawyers answered him, “Teacher, in saying these things you insult us also.” 46And he said, Woe to you olawyers also! For pyou load people with burdens hard to bear, and you yourselves do not touch the burdens with one of your fingers. 47 qWoe to you! For you build the tombs of the prophets whom your fathers killed. 48 rSo you are witnesses and you sconsent to the deeds of tyour fathers, for they killed them, and you build their tombs. 49Therefore also uthe Wisdom of God said, v‘I will send them wprophets and apostles, xsome of whom they will ykill and persecute,’ 50so that zthe blood of all the prophets, shed aafrom the foundation of the world, may be abcharged against this generation, 51from the blood of acAbel to the blood of adZechariah, who perished between aethe altar and the sanctuary. Yes, I tell you, it will be afrequired of this generation. 52Woe to you aglawyers! ahFor you have taken away the key of aiknowledge. You ajdid not enter yourselves, and you hindered those who were entering.”
