53As he went away from there, the scribes and the Pharisees began to press him hard and to provoke him to speak about many things, 54 alying in wait for him, bto catch him in something he might say.

Lament over Jerusalem

31At that very hour some Pharisees came and said to him, “Get away from chere, for dHerod wants to kill you.” 32And he said to them, Go and tell that fox, ‘Behold, I cast out demons and perform cures today and tomorrow, and the third day eI finish my course. 33Nevertheless, fI gmust go on my way today and tomorrow and the day following, for it cannot be that ha prophet should perish away from Jerusalem.’

Luke 19:39-40

39 iAnd some of the Pharisees in the crowd said to him, “Teacher, rebuke your disciples.” 40He answered, “I tell you, if these were silent, jthe very stones would cry out.”

John 12:17-19

17 sThe crowd that had been with him when he called Lazarus out of the tomb and raised him from the dead continued to bear witness. 18The reason why the crowd went to meet him twas that they heard he had done this sign. 19So the Pharisees said to one another, u“You see that you are gaining nothing. Look, vthe world has gone after him.”
