Luke 12:13-21

The Parable of the Rich Fool

13 aSomeone in the crowd said to him, “Teacher, tell my brother to divide the inheritance with me.” 14But he said to him, bMan, cwho made me a judge or arbitrator over you?” 15And he said to them, d“Take care, and be on your guard against all covetousness, for one’s life does not consist in the abundance of his possessions.” 16And he told them a parable, saying, e“The land of a rich man produced plentifully, 17and he thought to himself, fWhat shall I do, for I have nowhere to store my crops?’ 18And he said, ‘I will do this: I will tear down my gbarns and build larger ones, and there I will store all my grain and my goods. 19And I will say to my soul, “Soul, you have ample goods laid up hfor many years; relax, ieat, drink, be merry.”’ 20But God said to him, jFool! kThis night lyour soul is required of you, and the things you have prepared, mwhose will they be?’ 21So is the one nwho lays up treasure for himself and is not rich toward God.”

Luke 13:23-30

23And someone said to him, “Lord, owill those who are saved be few?” And he said to them, 24 pStrive qto enter through the narrow door. For many, I tell you, will seek to enter and will not be able. 25 rWhen once the master of the house has risen and shut the door, and you begin to stand outside and to knock at the door, saying, sLord, open to us,’ then he will answer you, t‘I do not know where you come from.’ 26Then you will begin to say, u‘We ate and drank in your presence, and you taught in our streets.’ 27But he will say, ‘I tell you, vI do not know where you come from. wDepart from me, all you workers of evil!’ 28 xIn that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth, when you see yAbraham and Isaac and Jacob and all the prophets in the kingdom of God but zyou yourselves cast out. 29And aapeople will come from east and west, and from north and south, and abrecline at table in the kingdom of God. 30And behold, acsome are last who will be first, and some are first who will be last.”

John 8:7

7And as they continued to ask him, he stood up and said to them, ad“Let him who is without sin among you aebe the first to throw a stone at her.”

John 9:26-33

26They said to him, “What did he do to you? How did he open your eyes?” 27He answered them, af“I have told you already, and you would not listen. Why do you want to hear it again? Do you also want to become his disciples?” 28And they reviled him, saying, “You are his disciple, but agwe are disciples of Moses. 29We know that God has spoken to Moses, but as for this man, ahwe do not know where he comes from.” 30The man answered, “Why, this is aian amazing thing! ajYou do not know where he comes from, and yet he opened my eyes. 31We know that akGod does not listen to sinners, but alif anyone is a worshiper of God and does his will, God listens to him. 32Never since the world began has it been heard that anyone opened the eyes of a man born blind. 33 amIf this man were not from God, he could do nothing.”
