Luke 16:1-12

The Parable of the Dishonest Manager

1He also said to the disciples, “There was a rich man who had aa manager, and charges were brought to him that this man was wasting his possessions. 2And he called him and said to him, ‘What is this that I hear about you? Turn in the account of your bmanagement, for you can no longer be manager.’ 3And the manager said to himself, ‘What shall I do, since my master is taking the management away from me? I am not strong enough to dig, and I am ashamed to beg. 4I have decided what to do, so that when I am removed from management, people may receive me into their houses.’ 5So, summoning his master’s debtors one by one, he said to the first, ‘How much do you owe my master?’ 6He said, ‘A hundred measures
About 875 gallons or 3,200 liters
of oil.’ He said to him, ‘Take your bill, and sit down quickly and write fifty.’
7Then he said to another, ‘And how much do you owe?’ He said, ‘A hundred measures
Between 1,000 and 1,200 bushels or 37,000 to 45,000 liters
of wheat.’ He said to him, ‘Take your bill, and write eighty.’
8The master commended the dishonest manager for his eshrewdness. For fthe sons of this world
Greek age
are hmore shrewd in dealing with their own generation than ithe sons of light.
9And I tell you, jmake friends for yourselves by means of kunrighteous wealth,
Greek mammon, a Semitic word for money or possessions; also verse 11; rendered money in verse 13
so that when it fails they may receive you into the eternal dwellings.

10 m“One who is nfaithful in a very little is also faithful in much, and one who is dishonest in a very little is also dishonest in much. 11If then you have not been faithful in the unrighteous wealth, who will entrust to you the true riches? 12And if you have not been faithful in othat which is another’s, who will give you that which is your own?

Romans 12:6-8

6 pHaving gifts that differ according to the grace given to us, let us use them: if qprophecy, rin proportion to our faith; 7if sservice, in our serving; the one who teaches, in his teaching; 8the one who exhorts, in his exhortation; the one who contributes, in generosity; tthe one who leads,
Or gives aid
with zeal; the one who does acts of mercy, with vcheerfulness.

1 Corinthians 3:5

5What then is Apollos? What is Paul? wServants through whom you believed, xas the Lord assigned to each.

The Ministry of Apostles

1This is how one should regard us, as servants of Christ and ystewards of the mysteries of God. 2Moreover, it is required of stewards that they be found faithful.

1 Corinthians 12:4

4Now zthere are varieties of gifts, but aathe same Spirit;

1 Corinthians 12:7-29

7 abTo each is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good. 8For to one is given through the Spirit the utterance of acwisdom, and to another the utterance of adknowledge according to the same Spirit, 9to another aefaith by the same Spirit, to another afgifts of healing by the one Spirit, 10to another agthe working of miracles, to another ahprophecy, to another aithe ability to distinguish between spirits, to another ajvarious kinds of tongues, to another akthe interpretation of tongues. 11All these are empowered by one and the same Spirit, alwho apportions to each one individually amas he wills.

One Body with Many Members

12For just as anthe body is one and has many members, and all the members of the body, though many, are one body, aoso it is with Christ. 13For apin one Spirit we were all baptized into one bodyaqJews or Greeks, slaves
Or servants; Greek bondservants
or freeand asall were made to drink of one Spirit.

14For the body does not consist of one member but of many. 15If the foot should say, “Because I am not a hand, I do not belong to the body,” that would not make it any less a part of the body. 16And if the ear should say, “Because I am not an eye, I do not belong to the body,” that would not make it any less a part of the body. 17If the whole body were an eye, where would be the sense of hearing? If the whole body were an ear, where would be the sense of smell? 18But as it is, atGod arranged the members in the body, each one of them, auas he chose. 19If all were a single member, where would the body be? 20As it is, there are many parts,
Or members; also verse 22
yet one body.

21The eye cannot say to the hand, “I have no need of you,” nor again the head to the feet, “I have no need of you.” 22On the contrary, the parts of the body that seem to be weaker are indispensable, 23and on those parts of the body that we think less honorable we bestow the greater honor, and our unpresentable parts are treated with greater modesty, 24which our more presentable parts do not require. But God has so composed the body, giving greater honor to the part that lacked it, 25that there may be no division in the body, but that the members may have the same care for one another. 26If one member suffers, all suffer together; if one member is honored, awall rejoice together.

27Now axyou are the body of Christ and individually aymembers of it. 28And azGod has appointed in the church first baapostles, second bbprophets, third teachers, then bcmiracles, then bdgifts of healing, behelping, bfadministrating, and bgvarious kinds of tongues. 29Are all apostles? Are all prophets? Are all teachers? Do all work miracles?

Ephesians 4:11

11And bhhe gave the biapostles, the prophets, the bjevangelists, the bkshepherds
