41 aAnd when he drew near and saw the city, bhe wept over it, 42saying, cWould that you, even you, had known on this day the things that make for peace! Jesus Foretells Destruction of Jerusalem

20But twhen you see Jerusalem surrounded by armies, then know that uits desolation has come near. 21Then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains, and let those who are inside the city depart, and let not those who are out in the country enter it, 22for these are vdays of wvengeance, to fulfill xall that is written. 23 yAlas for women who are pregnant and for those who are nursing infants in those days! For there will be great distress upon the earth and zwrath against this people. 24They will fall by the edge of the sword and aabe led captive among all nations, and abJerusalem will be trampled underfoot by the Gentiles, acuntil the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled.

Luke 23:28-30

28But turning to them Jesus said, Daughters of Jerusalem, do not weep for me, but weep for yourselves and for your children. 29For behold, adthe days are coming when they will say, aeBlessed are the barren and the wombs that never bore and the breasts that never nursed!’ 30 afThen they will begin to say to the mountains, ‘Fall on us,’ and to the hills, ‘Cover us.’
