Jesus Cleanses the Temple

13 ^hThe Passover of the Jews was at hand, and Jesus ⁱwent up to Jerusalem. 14 ^jIn the temple he found those who were selling oxen and sheep and pigeons, and the money-changers sitting there. 15 And making a whip of cords, he drove them all out of the temple, with the sheep and oxen. And he poured out the coins of the money-changers and overturned their tables. 16 And he told those who sold the pigeons, “Take these things away; do not make ^kmy Father’s house a house of trade.” 17 His disciples remembered that it was written, ^l“Zeal for your house will consume me.”

John 7:37-39

Rivers of Living Water

37 ^mOn the last day of the feast, the great day, Jesus stood up and cried out, ⁿ“If anyone thirsts, let him ^ocome to me and drink. 38 Whoever believes in me, ^pas ^{▼▼Or let him come to me, and let him who believes in me drink. As} the Scripture has said, ^r‘Out of his heart will flow rivers of ^sliving water.’” 39 Now ^tthis he said about the Spirit, ^uwhom those who believed in him were to receive, ^vfor as yet the Spirit had not been ^wgiven, ^xbecause Jesus was not yet glorified.

31 ^anThe Jews picked up stones again to stone him. 32 Jesus answered them, “I have shown you many good works from the Father; for which of them are you going to stone me?” 33 The Jews answered him, “It is not for a good work that we are going to stone you but ^aofor blasphemy, because you, being a man, ^apmake yourself God.” 34 Jesus answered them, “Is it not written in ^aqyour Law, ^ar‘I said, you are gods’? 35 If he called them gods to whom the word of God came—and Scripture cannot be ^asbroken— 36 do you say of him whom ^atthe Father consecrated and ^ausent into the world, ‘You are blaspheming,’ because ^avI said, ‘I am the Son of God’? 37 ^awIf I am not doing the works of my Father, then do not believe me; 38 but if I do them, ^axeven though you do not believe me, believe the works, that you may know and understand that ^aythe Father is in me and I am in the Father.”
