Luke 24:13-21

On the Road to Emmaus

13That very day atwo of them were going to a village named Emmaus, about seven miles
Greek sixty stadia; a stadion was about 607 feet or 185 meters
from Jerusalem,
14and they were talking with each other about all these things that had happened. 15While they were talking and discussing together, Jesus himself drew near and went with them. 16 cBut their eyes were kept from recognizing him. 17And he said to them, What is this conversation that you are holding with each other as you walk?” And they stood still, looking sad. 18Then one of them, named Cleopas, answered him, “Are you the only visitor to Jerusalem who does not know the things that have happened there in these days?” 19And he said to them, “What things?” And they said to him, “Concerning Jesus of Nazareth, a man who was da prophet emighty in deed and word before God and all the people, 20and fhow our chief priests and grulers delivered him up to be condemned to death, and crucified him. 21But we had hoped that he was hthe one to redeem Israel. Yes, and besides all this, it is now ithe third day since these things happened.

John 16:6

6But because I have said these things to you, jsorrow has filled your heart.

John 16:20-22

20Truly, truly, I say to you, kyou will weep and lament, but lthe world will rejoice. You will be sorrowful, but myour sorrow will turn into joy. 21 nWhen a woman is giving birth, she has sorrow because her hour has come, but when she has delivered the baby, she no longer remembers the anguish, for joy that a human being has been born into the world. 22 oSo also you have sorrow now, but pI will see you again, and qyour hearts will rejoice, and no one will take your joy from you.
