Luke 8:14

14And as for what fell among the thorns, they are those who hear, but aas they go on their way they are choked by the bcares and riches and pleasures of life, and their fruit does not mature.

Luke 12:15-21

15And he said to them, c“Take care, and be on your guard against all covetousness, for one’s life does not consist in the abundance of his possessions.” 16And he told them a parable, saying, d“The land of a rich man produced plentifully, 17and he thought to himself, eWhat shall I do, for I have nowhere to store my crops?’ 18And he said, ‘I will do this: I will tear down my fbarns and build larger ones, and there I will store all my grain and my goods. 19And I will say to my soul, “Soul, you have ample goods laid up gfor many years; relax, heat, drink, be merry.”’ 20But God said to him, iFool! jThis night kyour soul is required of you, and the things you have prepared, lwhose will they be?’ 21So is the one mwho lays up treasure for himself and is not rich toward God.”

Luke 16:13-14

13 nNo servant can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and money.”

3But ssexual immorality and all impurity or covetousness tmust not even be named among you, as is proper among saints.

Ephesians 5:5

5For you may be sure of this, that ueveryone who is sexually immoral or impure, or who is covetous ( vthat is, an idolater), has no inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and God.
