Luke 9:23-25

Take Up Your Cross and Follow Jesus

23And he said to all, If anyone would come after me, let him adeny himself and btake up his cross cdaily and follow me. 24For dwhoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will save it. 25 eFor what does it profit a man if he gains the whole world and loses or forfeits himself?

Luke 14:26-33

26 fIf anyone comes to me and gdoes not hate his own father and mother and wife and children and brothers and sisters, hyes, and even his own life, he cannot be my disciple. 27 iWhoever does not jbear his own cross and come after me cannot be my disciple. 28For which of you, desiring to build a tower, does not kfirst sit down and count the cost, whether he has enough to complete it? 29Otherwise, when he has laid a foundation and is not able to finish, all who see it begin to mock him, 30saying, ‘This man began to build and was not able to finish.’ 31Or what king, going out to encounter another king in war, will not lsit down first and deliberate whether he is able with ten thousand to meet him who comes against him with twenty thousand? 32And if not, while the other is yet a great way off, he sends a delegation and asks for terms of peace. 33 mSo therefore, any one of you who ndoes not renounce all that he has cannot be my disciple.

Luke 21:12-18

12But before all this othey will lay their hands on you and persecute you, delivering you up to pthe synagogues and qprisons, and you rwill be brought before skings and tgovernors for my name’s sake. 13 uThis will be your opportunity to bear witness. 14Settle it therefore in your minds vnot to meditate beforehand how to answer, 15for wI will give you a mouth and xwisdom, which none of your adversaries will be able to withstand or ycontradict. 16You will be delivered up zeven by parents and brothers
Or  parents and brothers and sisters
and relatives and friends, and some of you they will put to death.
17 abYou will be hated by all for my name’s sake. 18But acnot a hair of your head will perish.

John 12:25-26

25 adWhoever loves his life loses it, and aewhoever afhates his life in this world will keep it for eternal life. 26If anyone serves me, he must agfollow me; and ahwhere I am, there will my servant be also. aiIf anyone serves me, ajthe Father will honor him.

Galatians 6:12

12 akIt is those who want to make a good showing in the flesh alwho would force you to be circumcised, and only amin order that they may not be persecuted for the cross of Christ.
