Mark 13:20

20And if the Lord had not cut short the days, no human being would be saved. But for athe sake of the elect, whom bhe chose, he shortened the days.

Romans 9:27-29

27And Isaiah cries out concerning Israel: cThough the number of the sons of Israel
Or children of Israel
be as the sand of the sea, eonly a remnant of them will be saved,
28for the Lord will carry out his sentence upon the earth fully and without delay.” 29And as Isaiah predicted,

f, gIf the Lord of hosts had not left us offspring,
hwe would have been like Sodom
and become like Gomorrah.”

Romans 11:1-5

The Remnant of Israel

1I ask, then, ihas God rejected his people? By no means! For jI myself am an Israelite, a descendant of Abraham,
Or one of the offspring of Abraham
a member of the tribe of Benjamin.
2 lGod has not rejected his people whom he mforeknew. Do you not know what the Scripture says of Elijah, how he appeals to God against Israel? 3 nLord, they have killed your prophets, they have demolished your altars, and I alone am left, and they seek my life.” 4But what is God’s reply to him? o“I have kept for myself seven thousand men who have not bowed the knee to Baal.” 5So too at the present time there is pa remnant, chosen by grace.
