Mark 14:53-72

Jesus Before the Council

53 aAnd bthey led Jesus to the high priest. And all the chief priests and the elders and the scribes came together. 54 cAnd dPeter had followed him at a distance, eright into fthe courtyard of the high priest. And he was sitting with gthe guards and hwarming himself at the fire. 55Now the chief priests and the whole council
Greek Sanhedrin
were seeking testimony against Jesus to put him to death, but they found none.
56 jFor many bore false witness against him, but their testimony kdid not agree. 57And some stood up and bore false witness against him, saying, 58 lWe heard him say, mI will destroy this temple nthat is made with hands, and in three days I will build another, onot made with hands.’” 59Yet even about this their testimony did not agree. 60And the high priest stood up in the midst and asked Jesus, “Have you no answer to make? What is it that these men testify against you?”
Or Have you no answer to what these men testify against you?
61But qhe remained silent and made no answer. rAgain the high priest asked him, “Are you sthe Christ, the Son of tthe Blessed?” 62And Jesus said, I am, and uyou will see the Son of Man vseated at the right hand of Power, and wcoming with the clouds of heaven.” 63And the high priest xtore his garments and said, “What further witnesses do we need? 64You have heard yhis blasphemy. What is your decision?” And they zall condemned him as aadeserving death. 65 abAnd some began acto spit on him and adto cover his face and to strike him, saying to him, “Prophesy!” And the guards received him aewith blows.

Peter Denies Jesus

66 afAnd as Peter was below in the courtyard, one of the servant girls of the high priest came, 67and seeing Peter agwarming himself, she looked at him and said, “You also were with the Nazarene, Jesus.” 68But he denied it, saying, “I neither know nor understand what you mean.” And he went out into the gateway
Or forecourt
and aithe rooster crowed.

69And the servant girl saw him and began again to say to the bystanders, “This man is one of them.” 70But again he denied it. And after a little while the bystanders again said to Peter, “Certainly you are one of them, for you are a Galilean.” 71But he began to invoke a curse on himself and to swear, “I do not know this man of whom you speak.” 72And immediately the rooster crowed aka second time. And Peter remembered how Jesus had said to him, alBefore the rooster crows twice, you will amdeny me three times.” And he broke down and wept.
Or  And when he had thought about it, he wept

Luke 22:54-71

Peter Denies Jesus

54 aoThen they seized him and led him away, bringing him into the high priest’s house, apand Peter was following at a distance. 55 aqAnd when they had kindled a fire in the middle of arthe courtyard and sat down together, Peter sat down among them. 56Then a servant girl, seeing him as he sat in the light and looking closely at him, said, “This man also was with him.” 57But he denied it, saying, “Woman, I do not know him.” 58And a little later someone else saw him and said, “You also are one of them.” But Peter said, “Man, I am not.” 59And after an interval of about an hour still another asinsisted, saying, “Certainly this man also was with him, for he too is a Galilean.” 60But Peter said, “Man, I do not know what you are talking about.” And immediately, while he was still speaking, the rooster crowed. 61And the Lord turned and atlooked at Peter. And Peter remembered the saying of the Lord, how he had said to him, auBefore the rooster crows today, you will avdeny me three times.” 62And he went out and wept bitterly.

Jesus Is Mocked

63 awNow the men who were holding Jesus in custody were mocking him as they beat him. 64 axThey also blindfolded him and kept asking him, ayProphesy! azWho is it that struck you?” 65And they said many other things against him, bablaspheming him.

Jesus Before the Council

66 bbWhen day came, bcthe assembly of the elders of the people gathered together, both chief priests and scribes. And they led him away to their bdcouncil, and they besaid, 67 bfIf you are bgthe Christ, tell us.” But he said to them, If I tell you, you will not believe, 68and if I ask you, you will not answer. 69But from now on the Son of Man shall be seated bhat the right hand of the power of God.” 70So they all said, “Are you bithe Son of God, then?” And he said to them, bjYou say that I am.” 71Then they said, “What further testimony do we need? We have heard it ourselves from his own lips.”

John 18:13-27

13First they bkled him to blAnnas, for he was the father-in-law of bmCaiaphas, who was high priest that year. 14It was Caiaphas who had advised the Jews bnthat it would be expedient that one man should die for the people.

Peter Denies Jesus

15 boSimon Peter followed Jesus, and so did another disciple. Since that disciple was known to the high priest, he entered with Jesus into the courtyard of the high priest, 16 bpbut Peter stood outside at the door. So the other disciple, who was known to the high priest, went out and spoke to the servant girl who kept watch at the door, and brought Peter in. 17 bqThe servant girl at the door said to Peter, “You also are not one of this man’s disciples, are you?” He said, “I am not.” 18Now the servants
Greek bondservants; also verse 26
and officers had made a charcoal fire, because it was cold, and they were standing and warming themselves. bsPeter also was with them, standing and warming himself.

The High Priest Questions Jesus

19 btThe high priest then questioned Jesus about his disciples and his teaching. 20Jesus answered him, I have spoken buopenly bvto the world. I have always taught in synagogues and in the temple, where all Jews come together. bwI have said nothing in secret. 21Why do you ask me? Ask those who have heard me what I said to them; they know what I said.” 22When he had said these things, one of the officers standing by struck Jesus with his hand, saying, bx“Is that how you answer the high priest?” 23Jesus answered him, If what I said is wrong, bear witness about the wrong; but if what I said is right, why do you strike me?” 24 byAnnas then sent him bound to bzCaiaphas the high priest.

Peter Denies Jesus Again

25 caNow Simon Peter was standing and warming himself. So they said to him, “You also are not one of his disciples, are you?” He denied it and said, “I am not.” 26One of the servants of the high priest, a relative of cbthe man whose ear Peter had cut off, asked, “Did I not see you ccin the garden with him?” 27Peter again denied it, and cdat once a rooster crowed.
