Mark 15:15-20

15So Pilate, wishing to satisfy the crowd, released for them Barabbas, and having ascourged
A Roman judicial penalty, consisting of a severe beating with a multi-lashed whip containing imbedded pieces of bone and metal
Jesus, he delivered him to be crucified.

Jesus Is Mocked

16 cAnd the soldiers led him away inside dthe palace (that is, ethe governor’s headquarters),
Greek  the praetorium
and they called together the whole gbattalion.
Greek cohort; a tenth of a Roman legion, usually about 600 men
17And they clothed him in ia purple cloak, and twisting together a crown of thorns, they put it on him. 18And they began to salute him, jHail, King of the Jews!” 19And they were striking his head with a reed and kspitting on him and lkneeling down in homage to him. 20And when they had mmocked him, they stripped him of nthe purple cloak and put his own clothes on him. And they oled him out to crucify him.

Jesus Delivered to Be Crucified

1Then Pilate took Jesus and pflogged him. 2 qAnd the soldiers twisted together a crown of thorns and put it on his head and arrayed him in a purple robe. 3They came up to him, saying, “Hail, King of the Jews!” and struck him with their hands.
