Jesus Is Mocked

16 aAnd the soldiers led him away inside bthe palace (that is, cthe governor’s headquarters),

and they called together the whole ebattalion.
Greek cohort; a tenth of a Roman legion, usually about 600 men
17And they clothed him in ga purple cloak, and twisting together a crown of thorns, they put it on him. 18And they began to salute him, hHail, King of the Jews!” 19And they were striking his head with a reed and ispitting on him and jkneeling down in homage to him. 20And when they had kmocked him, they stripped him of lthe purple cloak and put his own clothes on him. And they mled him out to crucify him.

Mark 15:29-31

29And nthose who passed by derided him, owagging their heads and saying, pAha! qYou who would destroy the temple and rebuild it in three days, 30save yourself, and come down from the cross!” 31So also the chief priests with the scribes mocked him to one another, saying, r“He saved others; she cannot save himself.

11And Herod with his soldiers ttreated him with contempt and umocked him. Then, varraying him in splendid clothing, he sent him back to Pilate.

John 19:1-4

Jesus Delivered to Be Crucified

1Then Pilate took Jesus and wflogged him. 2 xAnd the soldiers twisted together a crown of thorns and put it on his head and arrayed him in a purple robe. 3They came up to him, saying, “Hail, King of the Jews!” and struck him with their hands. 4Pilate went out again and said to them, “See, I am bringing him out to you that you may know that yI find no guilt in him.”
