The Sin of Partiality

1 My brothers, ^{▼▼Or brothers and sisters; also verses 5, 14} ^cshow no partiality as you hold the faith in our Lord Jesus Christ, ^dthe Lord of glory. 2 For if a man wearing a gold ring and fine clothing comes into your assembly, and a poor man in shabby clothing also comes in, 3 and if you pay attention to the one who wears the fine clothing and say, “You sit here in a good place,” ^ewhile you say to the poor man, “You stand over there,” or, “Sit down at my feet,” 4 have you not then made distinctions among yourselves and become ^fjudges with evil thoughts? 5 Listen, my beloved brothers, ^ghas not God chosen those who are poor in the world to be ^hrich in faith and heirs of ⁱthe kingdom, ^jwhich he has promised to those who love him?

1 John 3:14

14 We know that ^kwe have passed out of death into life, because we love the brothers. Whoever does not love abides in death.

1 John 3:17

17 But ^lif anyone has the world’s goods and sees his brother in need, yet ^mcloses his heart against him, ⁿhow does God’s love abide in him?
