34 And calling the crowd to him with his disciples, he said to them, “If anyone would come after me, let him ^edeny himself and ^ftake up his cross and follow me. 35 For ^gwhoever would save his life ^{▼▼The same Greek word can mean either soul or life, depending on the context; twice in this verse and once in verse 36 and once in verse 37} will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake ⁱand the gospel’s will save it.

Luke 9:23-25

Take Up Your Cross and Follow Jesus

Luke 14:26-27
