Matthew 10:38-39

38And awhoever does not take his cross and bfollow me is not worthy of me. 39 cWhoever finds his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life for my sake will find it.

Matthew 16:22-25

22And Peter took him aside and began to rebuke him, saying, “Far be it from you, Lord!
Or “[May God be] merciful to you, Lord!”
This shall never happen to you.”

Greek stumbling block
to me. For you hare not setting your mind on the things of God, but on the things of man.”


Take Up Your Cross and Follow Jesus

24Then Jesus told his disciples, If anyone would come after me, let him ideny himself and jtake up his cross and follow me. 25For kwhoever would save his life
The same Greek word can mean either soul or  life, depending on the context; twice in this verse and twice in verse 26
will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will find it.

Mark 8:34-38

34And calling the crowd to him with his disciples, he said to them, “If anyone would come after me, let him mdeny himself and ntake up his cross and follow me. 35For owhoever would save his life

Luke 14:26-27

26 xIf anyone comes to me and ydoes not hate his own father and mother and wife and children and brothers and sisters, zyes, and even his own life, he cannot be my disciple. 27 aaWhoever does not abbear his own cross and come after me cannot be my disciple.

John 12:25-26

25 acWhoever loves his life loses it, and adwhoever aehates his life in this world will keep it for eternal life. 26If anyone serves me, he must affollow me; and agwhere I am, there will my servant be also. ahIf anyone serves me, aithe Father will honor him.

Romans 8:13

13For if you live according to the flesh you will die, but if by the Spirit you ajput to death the deeds of the body, you will live.
