20For if, pafter they have escaped the defilements of the world qthrough the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, they are again entangled in them and overcome, rthe last state has become worse for them than the first. 21For sit would have been better for them never to have known the way of righteousness than after knowing it to turn back from tthe holy commandment delivered to them. 22What the true proverb says has happened to them: “The udog returns to its own vomit, and the sow, after washing herself, returns to wallow in the mire.”

Greek he
will give him life—to those who commit sins that do not lead to death. xThere is sin that leads to death; yI do not say that one should pray for that.
