38Then some of the scribes and Pharisees answered him, saying, “Teacher, awe wish to see a sign from you.” 39But he answered them, b“An evil and cadulterous generation seeks for a sign, but no sign will be given to it except the sign of the prophet Jonah.

54He also said to the crowds, pWhen you see qa cloud rising in the west, you say at once, ‘A shower is coming.’ And so it happens. 55And rwhen you see the south wind blowing, you say, ‘There will be sscorching heat,’ and it happens. 56You hypocrites! tYou know how to interpret the appearance of earth and sky, but why do you not know how to interpret the present time?
