The Parable of the Sower

1That same day Jesus went out of the house aand sat beside the sea. 2And great crowds gathered about him, bso that he got into a boat and sat down. And the whole crowd stood on the beach. 3And che told them many things in parables, saying: d“A sower went out to sow. 4And as he sowed, some seeds fell along the path, and the birds came and devoured them. 5Other seeds fell on rocky ground, where they did not have much soil, and immediately they sprang up, since they had no depth of soil, 6but ewhen the sun rose they were scorched. And since they had no root, fthey withered away. 7Other seeds fell among gthorns, and the thorns grew up and choked them. 8Other seeds fell on good soil and produced grain, some ha hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty. 9 iHe who has ears,

let him hear.”

4 lAnd when a great crowd was gathering and people from town after town came to him, he said in a parable, 5 m“A sower went out to sow his seed. And as he sowed, some fell along the path and was trampled underfoot, and the birds of the air devoured it. 6And some fell on the rock, and as it grew up, nit withered away, because it had no moisture. 7And some fell among othorns, and the thorns grew up with it and choked it. 8And some fell into good soil and grew and yielded pa hundredfold.” As he said these things, he called out, q“He who has ears to hear, let him hear.”
