11 And he answered them, ^a“To you it has been given to know ^bthe secrets of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it has not been given. 12 ^cFor to the one who has, more will be given, and he will have an abundance, but from the one who has not, ^deven what he has will be taken away. 13 This is why I speak to them in parables, because ^eseeing they do not see, and hearing they do not hear, ^fnor do they understand. 14 Indeed, in their case the prophecy of Isaiah is fulfilled that says:

^g“‘“You will indeed hear but never understand,
and you will indeed see but never perceive.”
15 For this people’s heart has grown dull,
and with their ears ^hthey can barely hear,
and ⁱtheir eyes they have closed,
lest they should see with their eyes
and hear with their ears
and ^junderstand with their heart
and ^kturn, and I would heal them.’
16 But ^lblessed are your eyes, for they see, and your ears, for they hear. 17 ^mFor truly, I say to you, ⁿmany prophets and righteous people longed to see what you see, and did not see it, and to hear what you hear, and did not hear it.

Matthew 16:23

23 But he turned and said to Peter, ^o“Get behind me, Satan! You are ^pa hindrance ^{▼▼Greek stumbling block} to me. For you ^rare not setting your mind on the things of God, but on the things of man.”

John 3:3-6

3 Jesus answered him, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is ^sborn ^tagain ^{▼▼Or from above; the Greek is purposely ambiguous and can mean both again and from above; also verse 7} he cannot ^vsee the kingdom of God.” 4 Nicodemus said to him, “How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter a second time into his mother’s womb and be born?” 5 Jesus answered, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born ^wof water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. 6 ^xThat which is born of the flesh is ^yflesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. ^{▼▼The same Greek word means both wind and spirit}

John 8:43

43 ^aaWhy do you not understand what I say? It is because you cannot ^abbear to hear my word.

Romans 8:5-8

5 For ^aethose who live according to the flesh set their minds on ^afthe things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit set their minds on ^agthe things of the Spirit. 6 For to set ^ahthe mind on the flesh is death, but to set the mind on the Spirit is life and peace. 7 For the mind that is set on the flesh is ^aihostile to God, for it does not submit to God’s law; ^ajindeed, it cannot. 8 Those who are in the flesh cannot please God.
