13But woe fto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you gshut the kingdom of heaven in people’s faces. For you hneither enter yourselves nor allow those who would enter to go in.
Some manuscripts add here (or after verse 12) verse 14: Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you devour widows’ houses and for a pretense you make long prayers; therefore you will receive the greater condemnation
15Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you travel across sea and land to make a single jproselyte, and when he becomes a proselyte, you make him twice as much a kchild of lhell
Greek Gehenna; also verse 33
as yourselves.

16Woe to nyou, oblind guides, who say, pIf anyone swears by the temple, it is nothing, but if anyone swears by the gold of the temple, he is bound by his oath.’ 17You blind fools! For which is greater, the gold or qthe temple that has made the gold sacred? 18And you say, ‘If anyone swears by the altar, it is nothing, but if anyone swears by rthe gift that is on the altar, he is bound by his oath.’ 19You blind men! For which is greater, the gift or sthe altar that makes the gift sacred? 20So whoever swears by the altar swears by it and by everything on it. 21And whoever swears by the temple swears by it and by thim who dwells in it. 22And whoever swears by uheaven swears by vthe throne of God and by whim who sits upon it.

23 xWoe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For yyou tithe mint and dill and zcumin, and have neglected the weightier matters of the law: aajustice and mercy and faithfulness. abThese you ought to have done, without neglecting the others. 24You blind guides, straining out a gnat and swallowing aca camel!

25 adWoe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For aeyou clean the outside of afthe cup and the plate, but inside they are full of aggreed and self-indulgence. 26You blind Pharisee! First clean the inside of ahthe cup and the plate, that the outside also may be clean.

27 aiWoe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you are like ajwhitewashed tombs, which outwardly appear beautiful, but within are full of dead people’s bones and akall uncleanness. 28So you also aloutwardly appear righteous to others, but within you are full of amhypocrisy and lawlessness.

18(Now this man avacquired a field with awthe reward of his wickedness, and falling headlong
Or swelling up
he burst open in the middle and all his bowels gushed out.
19And it became known to all the inhabitants of Jerusalem, so that the field was called ayin their own language Akeldama, that is, Field of Blood.) 20For it is written in the Book of Psalms,

and let there be no one to dwell in it’;
and

ba“‘Let another take his office.’

2 Peter 2:15-17

15Forsaking the right way, bethey have gone astray. They have followed bfthe way of Balaam, the son of Beor, who loved bggain from wrongdoing, 16but was rebuked for his own transgression; bha speechless donkey spoke with human voice and restrained the prophet’s madness.
