Matthew 15:12-14

12Then the disciples came and said to him, “Do you know that the Pharisees were aoffended when they heard this saying?” 13He answered, bEvery plant that my heavenly Father has not planted cwill be rooted up. 14Let them alone; dthey are blind guides.
Some manuscripts add of the blind
And fif the blind lead the blind, both will fall into a pit.”

Matthew 23:16-28

16Woe to gyou, hblind guides, who say, iIf anyone swears by the temple, it is nothing, but if anyone swears by the gold of the temple, he is bound by his oath.’ 17You blind fools! For which is greater, the gold or jthe temple that has made the gold sacred? 18And you say, ‘If anyone swears by the altar, it is nothing, but if anyone swears by kthe gift that is on the altar, he is bound by his oath.’ 19You blind men! For which is greater, the gift or lthe altar that makes the gift sacred? 20So whoever swears by the altar swears by it and by everything on it. 21And whoever swears by the temple swears by it and by mhim who dwells in it. 22And whoever swears by nheaven swears by othe throne of God and by phim who sits upon it.

23 qWoe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For ryou tithe mint and dill and scumin, and have neglected the weightier matters of the law: tjustice and mercy and faithfulness. uThese you ought to have done, without neglecting the others. 24You blind guides, straining out a gnat and swallowing va camel!

25 wWoe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For xyou clean the outside of ythe cup and the plate, but inside they are full of zgreed and self-indulgence. 26You blind Pharisee! First clean the inside of aathe cup and the plate, that the outside also may be clean.

27 abWoe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you are like acwhitewashed tombs, which outwardly appear beautiful, but within are full of dead people’s bones and adall uncleanness. 28So you also aeoutwardly appear righteous to others, but within you are full of afhypocrisy and lawlessness.

Luke 11:39-54

39And the Lord said to him, agNow you Pharisees cleanse the outside of the cup and of the dish, but inside you are full of ahgreed and wickedness. 40 aiYou fools! ajDid not he who made the outside make the inside also? 41But akgive as alms those things that are within, and behold, aleverything is clean for you.

42 amBut woe to you Pharisees! For anyou tithe mint and rue and every herb, and neglect aojustice and apthe love of God. aqThese you ought to have done, without neglecting the others. 43Woe to you Pharisees! For aryou love the best seat in the synagogues and greetings in the marketplaces. 44Woe to you! asFor you are like unmarked graves, and people walk over them without knowing it.”

45One of atthe lawyers answered him, “Teacher, in saying these things you insult us also.” 46And he said, Woe to you aulawyers also! For avyou load people with burdens hard to bear, and you yourselves do not touch the burdens with one of your fingers. 47 awWoe to you! For you build the tombs of the prophets whom your fathers killed. 48 axSo you are witnesses and you ayconsent to the deeds of azyour fathers, for they killed them, and you build their tombs. 49Therefore also bathe Wisdom of God said, bb‘I will send them bcprophets and apostles, bdsome of whom they will bekill and persecute,’ 50so that bfthe blood of all the prophets, shed bgfrom the foundation of the world, may be bhcharged against this generation, 51from the blood of biAbel to the blood of bjZechariah, who perished between bkthe altar and the sanctuary. Yes, I tell you, it will be blrequired of this generation. 52Woe to you bmlawyers! bnFor you have taken away the key of boknowledge. You bpdid not enter yourselves, and you hindered those who were entering.”

53As he went away from there, the scribes and the Pharisees began to press him hard and to provoke him to speak about many things, 54 bqlying in wait for him, brto catch him in something he might say.

John 7:47-52

47The Pharisees answered them, bsHave you also been deceived? 48 btHave any of the authorities or the Pharisees believed in him? 49But this crowd that does not know the law is accursed.” 50 buNicodemus, who had gone to him before, and who was one of them, said to them, 51 bv“Does our law judge a man without first bwgiving him a hearing and learning what he does?” 52They replied, bxAre you from Galilee too? Search and see that byno prophet arises from Galilee.”

John 9:34

34They answered him, bzYou were born in utter sin, and would you teach us?” And they cacast him out.

Romans 2:19-22

19and if you are sure that you yourself are cba guide to the blind, a light to those who are in darkness, 20an instructor of the foolish, a teacher of children, having in the law ccthe embodiment of cdknowledge and truth 21 ceyou then who teach others, do you not teach yourself? While you preach against stealing, do you steal? 22You who say that one must not commit adultery, do you commit adultery? You who abhor idols, do you cfrob temples?

Revelation of John 3:17

17 cgFor you say, I am rich, I have prospered, and I need nothing, not realizing that you are wretched, pitiable, poor, chblind, and naked.
