Matthew 16:18-19

18And I tell you, ayou are Peter, and bon this rock
The Greek words for  Peter and  rock sound similar
I will build my church, and dthe gates of ehell
Greek  the gates of Hades
shall not prevail against it.
19I will give you gthe keys of the kingdom of heaven, and hwhatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed
Or  shall have been bound . . . shall have been loosed
in heaven.”

Acts 10:5-6

5And now send men to Joppa and bring one Simon who is called Peter. 6He is lodging jwith one Simon, a tanner, whose house is by the sea.”

Acts 10:20

20Rise and go down and kaccompany them without hesitation,
Or  accompany them, making no distinction
for I have sent them.”

Acts 10:32-48

32Send therefore to Joppa and ask for Simon who is called Peter. He is lodging in the house of Simon, a tanner, by the sea.’ 33So I sent for you at once, and you have been kind enough to come. Now therefore we are all here in the presence of God to hear all that you have been commanded by the Lord.”

Gentiles Hear the Good News

34So Peter opened his mouth and said: “Truly I understand that mGod nshows no partiality, 35but oin every nation anyone who fears him and pdoes what is right is acceptable to him. 36As for qthe word that he sent to Israel, rpreaching good news of speace through Jesus Christ ( the is Lord of all), 37you yourselves know what happened throughout all Judea, ubeginning vfrom Galilee after the baptism that John proclaimed: 38how wGod anointed Jesus of Nazareth xwith the Holy Spirit and with ypower. He went about doing good and healing all zwho were oppressed by the devil, aafor God was with him. 39And abwe are witnesses of all that he did both in the country of the Jews and in Jerusalem. acThey put him to death by hanging him on a tree, 40but adGod raised him on aethe third day and made him to afappear, 41 agnot to all the people but to us who had been chosen by God as ahwitnesses, who ate and drank with him after he rose from the dead. 42And aihe commanded us to preach to the people and to testify ajthat he is the one appointed by God to be judge akof the living and the dead. 43 alTo him amall the prophets bear witness that aneveryone who believes in him receives aoforgiveness of sins apthrough his name.”

The Holy Spirit Falls on the Gentiles

44While Peter was still saying these things, aqthe Holy Spirit fell on all who heard the word. 45And the believers from among arthe circumcised who had come with Peter were amazed, because asthe gift of the Holy Spirit atwas poured out even on the Gentiles. 46For they were hearing them auspeaking in tongues and extolling God. Then Peter declared, 47 avCan anyone withhold water for baptizing these people, who have received the Holy Spirit awjust as we have?” 48And he axcommanded them ayto be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ. Then they asked him to remain for some days.

Acts 11:12-18

12And the Spirit told me to go with them, azmaking no distinction. baThese six brothers also accompanied me, and we entered the man’s house. 13And he told us how he had seen the angel stand in his house and say, ‘Send to Joppa and bring Simon who is called Peter; 14 bbhe will declare to you a message by which bcyou will be saved, you and all your household.’ 15As I began to speak, bdthe Holy Spirit fell on them bejust as on us at the beginning. 16And I remembered the word of the Lord, how he said, bfJohn baptized with water, but you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit.’ 17If then bgGod gave bhthe same gift to them as he gave to us biwhen we believed in the Lord Jesus Christ, bjwho was I bkthat I could stand in God’s way?” 18When they heard these things they fell silent. And they blglorified God, saying, bmThen to the Gentiles also God has bngranted borepentance that leads to life.”
