Matthew 16:28

28Truly, I say to you, there are some standing here who will not ataste death buntil they see the Son of Man ccoming in his kingdom.”

Matthew 17:1-13

The Transfiguration

1 dAnd after six days Jesus took with him ePeter and James, and John his brother, and led them up a high mountain by themselves. 2And he was ftransfigured before them, and ghis face shone like the sun, and hhis clothes became white as light. 3And behold, there appeared to them Moses and Elijah, talking with him. 4And Peter said to Jesus, “Lord, it is good that we are here. If you wish, I will make three tents here, one for you and one for Moses and one for iElijah.” 5He was still speaking when, behold, ja bright cloud overshadowed them, and ka voice from the cloud said, lThis is my beloved Son,
Or  my Son, my (or the) Beloved
with whom I am well pleased; nlisten to him.”
6When othe disciples heard this, pthey fell on their faces and were terrified. 7But Jesus came and qtouched them, saying, Rise, and rhave no fear.” 8And when they lifted up their eyes, they saw no one but Jesus only.

9 sAnd as they were coming down the mountain, Jesus commanded them, tTell no one the vision, until the Son of Man is raised from the dead.” 10And the disciples asked him, “Then why do the scribes say uthat first Elijah must come?” 11He answered, Elijah does come, and vhe will restore all things. 12But I tell you that Elijah has already come, and they did not recognize him, but wdid to him whatever they pleased. xSo also the Son of Man will certainly suffer at their hands.” 13 yThen the disciples understood that he was speaking to them of John the Baptist.

Luke 9:27-36

The Transfiguration

28 abNow about eight days after these sayings he took with him acPeter and John and James and adwent up on the mountain to pray. 29And as he was praying, the appearance of his face was aealtered, and afhis clothing became dazzling white. 30And behold, two men were talking with him, Moses and Elijah, 31who appeared in glory and spoke of his departure,
Greek exodus
which he was about to accomplish at Jerusalem.
32Now Peter and those who were with him ahwere heavy with sleep, but when they became fully awake aithey saw his glory and the two men who stood with him. 33And as the men were parting from him, Peter said to Jesus, “Master, it is good that we are here. Let us make three ajtents, one for you and one for Moses and one for Elijah”— aknot knowing what he said. 34As he was saying these things, ala cloud came and overshadowed them, and they were afraid as they entered the cloud. 35And ama voice came out of the cloud, saying, “This is my Son, anmy Chosen One;
Some manuscripts  my Beloved
aplisten to him!”
36And when the voice had spoken, Jesus was found alone. aqAnd they kept silent and told no one in those days anything of what they had seen.
